    Hi Everyone,

I pulled the transmission on my 2001 Tacoma yesterday to try and fix a leak, I confirmed that its leaking from the plate that holds the bearings in the center of the transmission (see image) and just wanted to see in anyone could offer any insight as to what the best course of action would be? Could I simply unbolt the casing at the plate and open it just enough to give me room to scrape off and the apply the RTV? Or am I forced to disassemble the transmission to what is shown in the second pic and if that's the case is there anything else I should replace while I'm in there? (my truck only has 152k mikes) Also any tips and things to look out for would be helpful as I have never done anything like this before, thanks in advance!

I would go with a New Clutch but that is me.

unless you just installed it last month.

Yeah I kind of assumed, seems kind of scary, but I guess I’ll give it a try. Hopefully I can remember where everything goes Now do I have to take everything apart case by case? Or is there anything that would be independent like the transfer case? Like could I unbolt the trans at the front adapter (referencing the diagram) and leave everything from there back in bothered? Or does it not work like that? Or should I work my way from the bell housing back and see much I have to take apart

And yes, the clutch is new, less that 3k miles I would say but I did however have a rear main seal leak which was pretty nasty, I found some oil on the inside of the bell housing, so should I just play it safe and replace it?

Also do you guys have any recommendations as to what I should use to reseal the transmission? Is Red RTV the way to go or is there something better you guys recommend?
