Regular cab bench swap

I saw a picture where someone swapped out the bench on a regular cab second gen for regular seats and a center console and I was wondering if anyone had any information on this of where to get the seats and center console

I think the bench seat is cool. I kinda want to swap on into my double cab.

Worst seat I’ve ever had was the bench in my 2009 reg cab. Complete trash!!

 

Only briefly. I had a S-10 with a bench seat. I don’t remember it being particularly horrible, but it probably was.

 

I don’t think the seats in my trucks now are all that great.

Have you considered getting an upholsterer to upgrade the foam?

 

If it was a split bench it was probably better. This thing was strictly designed to be as cheap as possible. No reclining (a little with mod), no lumbar support. And it isn't split so if your driver is really short (my wife) I have to ride with my knees to my chin.

 

Ah shit that does suck. The s-10 had a split bench.

 

I made a foam centre armrest and did the washer mod to lean the seat back a bit. The truck has been gone for many yrs. I can still recall my disgust after long drives. My dog def liked the bench better than buckets and he’s great so silver lining for him!

 

I had an 04 tundra regular cab, had a pretty nice bench. I wonder if it'd be comparable to the size of the second gen Tacoma.

 

Visually the older Tundra's and newer Tacoma's look very similar in size. I feel like I recall an old thread that talked about the similarities here somewhere..

 

That would be an easy fix, Wifey no drivey.

 

That's my truck in first post....it came that way. 2008 was last year of prerunner 5spd RC with buckets. After that you had to go auto 4x4 to get buckets in RC. Don't forget to add DC storage bins behind the seats too.



Lost no leg room or seat lean.

 

no recline looks uncomfortable to me

 

Mine are in same preferred recline position as in my old 05 AC....same leg room too. Added 1" spacers under back feet and it feels even better....and with having thick wet okole covers too. If much over 6' tall I wouldn't see point in RC regardless of seat type tho. Just not enough room. I am 6' and that's about limit of comfort in RC.

I’m old enough to remember bench seats in everything my dad probably remembers a time when the seat back on the bench folded down and you had a bed. Imagine the possibilities at a drive in theater.

Kidding aside I ordered a 94 ranger regular cab with premium reclining bucket seats. They looked great but pretty much useless. That old Ford had a 4 liter v6 and was a pile of shit compared to the Toyota.
