Here is a picture of my BAMF sliders with extra bracing in the same location.

I shot an email to RCI, and they’ll explain everything to me I’m sure. They’re a great bunch of guys. Very friendly and accommodating. It was a great pleasure dealing with them.

So as far as I understand, bamf only applies that extra braces on long bed sliders. correct?? I saw mobtown add those regardless of long or short bed. Is there any reason why not adding those on short bed sliders? Is it just not necessary on short bed? Im just curious. I placed an order from bamf last week even tho mobtown is closer to me. I'd rather pay extra for sliders to be shipped to my door instead I have to go pick them up from hub/terminal.

Since the day I drove my TRDOR home I've wanted sliders. But since I am in the midwest where there aren't any local vendors, shipping costs are a real problem. Will definitely be keeping an eye on black friday sales.

Really want some of those c4 fab sliders with the step plates. They look so good.

You know I am not sure to be honest with you on the short bed sliders from BAMF......seeing as I only have the DCLB sliders I can only speak to those. I think in an earlier post Jerry mentioned it has been on the LB sliders since 2011 but he could better answer that question.

I was looking at these and wondering what Avid means by "light offroading." I'm not doing any hardcore rock crawling or anything, but would like a little extra protection from things like small logs and such that might pop up as you drive over them (had that happen this past weekend, but fortunately only hit the frame) or maybe roots sticking out at the edge of small drop offs. I doubt I would be in a position where the full weight of the truck would be resting on it, but I would hope that it could support some weight.

I hadn't planned on getting anything like this so soon, but I'm also hoping it will help prevent some door dings. It took less than 3 weeks for some a-hole to ding my door. :annoyed:

    Any other thoughts on these?

After watching the video of the guys from 4X Innovations trying to destroy their sliders on a boulder, I was sold. Got a pair for my DCLB for $370 including shipping. Can't wait to get 'em welded on.

We finalized testing on our 3rd Gen Sliders. They are constructed from 3/8" one piece, full frame height plates. Solidly mounted to the frame with 3/8" plates on the inside and fastened with massive 5/8" grade 8 bolts! Then we use seven legs with five gussets to mount to the main tube, a 2" .120 HREW/.120 DOM/.188 DOM (your choice) piece of beef. This strength carries out to the outer tube for absurd rigidity. Four fill plate options available (smooth, diamond plate, dimple die up, dimple die down) in full fill or half filled and with or without a smooth transitioning kick-out. Any angle you want. And absolutely no cutting, drilling, or grinding to your frame. No need for it.

Our frame plates and legs mount further from end to end on the Tacoma's frame to fully distribute the crushing load of a fully loaded Tacoma. A lot of our work is sadly fixing frames from sliders that don’t distribute the load properly. The main tube covers the full length of the rock panel, if there is body, there is metal protecting it unlike most of the industry that cuts the slider main tube short of the wheel arches. We perform failure tests and real world tests on everything we make. For this slider we tested on both a built Tacoma and a bone stock one. We dropped the stock one off a 24" rock ledge and dragged it down, never had the passenger side tires touch the ground. We setup camera's with measuring tools to check deflection... these are rock solid. The new mounting system was taken from our 200 land cruiser design theory. Creating a slider that holds a 8,500 lbs land cruiser from hard core rock bashing without deflection, bending or denting requires some serious engineering and real world experience. So when we created the 3rd Gen Tacoma sliders, well, we just don't know how to make things not a strong as they could possibly be.

Just as an FYI to everyone, we could have charged you extra to ship them to your door as well. Either way, I'm sure you'll be pleased with your purchase.

Mobtown will do 0 degree but is another $100 (and not discounted with BF sale). That, plus they are a bit farther from me, shipping is $250. I get it, but its starting to add up. Taking a hard look at BAMF now.

Does anyone have any worry or bad experience with bolt on sliders accelerating the frame rust issues our beloved Tacoma's have?
Also how much do sliders really help from stopping parking lot door dings? I'd like to worry less on and off road, at least off road I'm the one screwing things up.

We have a few truck with over 10 years of bolt on sliders on them, and they all are rust free.

We actually see significantly more rust issues with weld on sliders. Most installers don’t clean the inside of the frame rails, and protect the backside of the welded areas. So any protection that Toyota coated the frame with is burnt off, and rust occurs rather quickly.

Not at all a real negative of weld on sliders, just something to keep in mind. But I think you’ll be just fine with and bolt on slider and having minimal rust issues.

As far as slider preventing door dings. YES!!! I remember my old ‘96 single cab Tacoma had more colors of paint on the sliders from college than rock hits. And it was always out at Tellico.

We just got a mint ‘99 Tacoma and will me preserving it. But we still put a classy slider on it to protect it from general driving.

On our ‘17 Tacoma, the day after we put sliders on it, a small Honda backed up into the slider kick out. They damaged their trunk, but there was still a few inches of space to the body of the Tacoma. Sliders, more than just off-road protection.

Thanks for the response and information BudBuilt. Getting harder and harder to hold off from buying some of these.
