Sirs, I have a 2011 access cab 4 cylinder auto trans with a sr 5 package. It does not have the compass/temp package in it. It has the sensor behind the grill and the plug to plug in the overhead console. I got a new console from the dealer and plugged it in and the display lights up but no compass or temp reading.
The main man in the service dept. said that Toyota left a wire out of the wire loam that is why it does not work. It seems to me why would Toyota run all the wires up overhead and put the temp sensor in and leave one wire out?
Also when the service dept give me the overhead console , it was not wrapped up or in a box, just laying on the shelf . What is your opinion that this unit could be faulty and that why there is no display. I cannot tell you what color wires coming to the plug in the console but I can look if need to too. Thanx for any reply. Deacon

Welcome to Tacoma World. The unit may be broken, and it seems to be a common enough occurrence. Here is a link to how you go about fixing this... if this is the problem you're having. I've never heard of a missing wire, but others may have, so stay tuned. Also here is a to the FSM (Factory Service Manuals) which may come in handy in the future.
