So, this one is driving me up a wall.

I recently got my first small trailer, right after I got my first Tacoma with a tow hitch, last summer.

Since I'm not used to a trailer, and the visibility out of this 2nd gen isn't as good as it was with my 1st gen, I opted to get some fold out tow mirrors. I really missed the fish-eye I had on my old tacoma anyway so it was an easy sale.

What I didn't realize is that Toyota sells these OEM- and I wound up buying... something else!
    Or so I thought.

    I tracked them down to:
    https://www.akkon.com/products/head...11-12-13-14-15?rq=mk_toyota~md_tacoma~yr_2013

    Anyway.
Two weeks back we had a storm, a branch came down, and smashed the glass out of one side.
I couldn't find a replacement for just the glass at first, until suddenly I found one on ebay that *looks* identical to what came out of mine.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/373144800953

of course, they came in and they don't *quite* fit. The mounting bracket on the back of the plastic is off by about 1cm or so. it looks like it would snap right in if I cut the housing back.

That's when I came to the conclusion that this ebay one is for the OEM tow mirrors, and whatever I bought isn't OEM- it's a knockoff.

So... what would you do? Keep trying to source replacement glass, or cut my losses and go buy the OEM tow mirrors?
I think I saw a guy post a pair in the classifieds not so long ago, but they didn't have heat and mine supposedly did (winter is just getting started, I wasn't sure yet!)

Is the fold out aspect critical to you? People convert dodge mirrors to fit the Tacomas. You can buy replacement glass for them. Search the forum there’s several threads on the dodge mirror conversion. Possibly pick up a used or junk yard set for cheap

If folding isn’t critical I suggest spotter mirrors if you still have the oem mirrors or can source some for cheap. Powered. Heated. And it’s just the glass instead of the entire assembly.

Well for one Toyota doesn’t make these mirrors, they never have. I have a pair and after researching them came to realize they are all made in china and lots of companies rebrand and sell them as their own or american made, which they are not. The replacement glass you got on ebay is a generic replacement for over 1161 vehicles with this type mirror, thats why theres the fitment issue. I too had a glass break on one of mine and as cheap as they are cut your losses and if you can’t find someone selling them on craigslist or something like that just buy a new set, it will save you time and grief.
