Rear seat delete is also a very good option, and its easier for the dogs to get in and out. You might want to get creative if you take that route because there are lots of plastic surfaces. I detailed a Dodge Durango a few days ago and there were deep claw markings all over the door panels because of their massive dog lol

 

I don't own a Tacoma, yet, I'm mostly here for research. Including dog transport. I've never put the seats down in a Tacoma and could not figure out what the heck was going on here until your post. Made no sense to me how the back could get to the front. Ha.

 

What is this sorcery with the headrests?! I didn’t know you could do this with the seats folded down.

 

Am I the only who who removed the rear middle headrest? mine has been sitting in my closet for almost 2 years now

 

I find the headrest thing amusing, and that there are a lot of Tacoma owners that never discover that one. I was also surprised by how many people dont know that the mirror has two points of adjustment so you can raise it.

is the one I have and it fits very nicely in the back of the Taco. My two Aussies make a huge mess back there, but its easy to put in and take out if they arent going to be riding for awhile. Doesnt stop them from coming forward at all, but thats what training is for

 

First time I folded the seat down I tried to leave the Headrests on the back seats. Well that didn't work worth a damn. Then my wife pointed out the holes in the seats and Voila. Most times wives are real smart. Lol

With the rear seat delete you get way more room and you can hook your pooches in using the seat back anchor points.

 

Those headrests aid in holding up the dog blanket!

 

Traveling with dogs is a very easy thing to do if you know your dog well and trained him for these kinds of situations. I once decided to travel around Germany with my dog by train and it was really fun. I was smart about it and chose the shortest routes that were available on https://www.dbfahrplan.com/de/ so that my dog would go outside more often to pee and also reduce anxiety because it gets really stressful for them in tight spaces like a train.

 

We use one of the cheap "hammocks" and a couple dog pillows. The pillow covers are easy to wash and the hair stays on the hammock and is easily removed and to just shake out. Dogs are Westy and a Jack-mix. The hammock is also easy to unclip from the headrest and fold over and the pillows stacked to accommodate a passenger.

 

Our overhead storage attic net is a great way to get light items like clothes or hats/gloves up and out of the way of your furry friend! My guy Moose loves it, and I love not having his hair all over my clothes haha

 

A car is a very comfortable mean of transportation for pets, but does anyone know if it is possible to travel with a dog by train? I have a trip to the Czech Republic and I will take my dog Chili, so I'm very worried whether she will be comfortable on the train. I looked in the dbfahrplanauskunft train schedule that a trip with dogs is allowed, but I don't know what to take for this trip. If someone has traveled by train with a dog, give a couple of tips on this topic to make the transportation of a dog as comfortable as possible. I would appreciate every piece of advice, even the smallest one. Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone!

I have Bartact Seat covers so for short trips in the truck we just make sure they are latched into the seat belt. When we go on longer trips I have an additional cover to help with hair and give them a little more room plus it keeps them from trying to jump up front. Our dogs are both under 25lbs.

I also copied the idea in the double cab folding dog platform thread mentioned above. I chose just to do the 60 side of the 60/40 back seat. Comes out easy to configure for people. I cut a hole for the latch where the rear seat connects. It pokes through just enough that I can secure with a carabiner. I can remove the carabiner and swing the back forward to access the cargo bins. Works great and keeps the seats clean.
