What does this mod do?

 

It allows me to use my rear locker anytime i want....instead of just 4 low.

Noooo. I have muscle cars for that.
Pure traction. Locking the rear lets me increase my traction in a big way. A locked 2wd in the right hands can go almost as far as a 4wd...imo

Where did you mount the LED to light up the dash panel like that? I've been wanting to do something similar.

 

As a sales rep my truck IS my office. I put 1000 miles per week calling on engine rebuilders, machine shops and the like. Hence my familiarity with engines, ones to stay away from and ones to endear (this is the primary reason I chose the 2.7L as my "work" engine, it's reputation for long life and reliability).
Anyway, because of my job I'm "married" to a laptop computer. I have a really nifty homemade computer desk that serves the same purpose as the high dollar ones you see in cop cars, etc. Mine will cost under $25 total. Everything you need is at Home Depot/Lowe's, Target.

Here is where it's attached. Remove the passenger seat rail bolt next to the console, get a 3/4" pipe flange from one the a fore mentioned stores. It will be necessary to drill one of the holes out to accept the bolt. I started with a short nipple then a 45 degree, then a quick coupling, then it's just a matter of screwing together a series of nipples. The "desk" is actually a cutting board I bought from Target over 6 years ago (I had this setup in my F150).
If you have a passenger, (I rarely do), then you can just unscrew the quick coupler and remove it.



The angle is tilted just a few degrees to the rear, just the right angle for me. BTW, the power converter and the heavy duty rubber band (used for securing my laptop) came from Love's Truck Stop and is plugged into the power outlet in the center console. It has some velcro tape on the back and it holds it into the carpet pretty well.

This might help you out a little though. I mounted some LED strips in my cup holders and they light up the lower portion of the center of the dash.

I did a little upgrade on my ARB bumper ligths, it's cheaper than buying some aftermarket (mk1, mk2) VW lights off ebay... they run between about $60-80.
I spent about $2:50ish per light. VERY bright compared to the stock bulbs plus less heat to discolor or crack the lens like they are known to do.
The way I glued them in is not pretty but when the lens is in you can't see it. I like it! I used some good silicon

 

I'm getting my truck camping ready and have been recently focusing on getting the gear I want and how to keep the truck organzied. I bought the

$91 viair 88p portable compressor kit (12V, 120 psi, forup to 33" tires)

viair 88p, with a tire repair kit and a fire extinguisher over this last weekend. Trying to figure out where to put it so it's out of the way and secured (no rattling) has been a challenge. Until I saw this little thing...(pic from the interwebz)



I noticed that there are three slots and thought I should be able to store some stuff in here securely and not have to screw into the plastic or the truck.

I needed one more of these flashlight holders to make my idea work. I reached out to the wonderful of TW and received another one from another member here @Iamraiderpower.

I took the little "T" knobs off the back of the holders that slide into the panel, screwed and plastic welded them with a soldering iron to the plastic mount that came with the extinguisher and....

Voila!!

End result:





Safe, secure and easily removable! The furniture pad is there to keep a tight fit...
