No idea. Got him as a "lab mix" from a rescue group when he was 8 weeks. He was one of 11 pups, some looked like straight yellow labs, too
The wife and I have toyed with the idea of buying one of those dog DNA tests.

Same here on the DNA test. Dusty has the same white with black spots on her chest and paw as your pup. We were told she is Lab Pointer "German shorthair".

Looks like English pointer coloring to me, don't really see pure white in Germans.

I think we'll probably wind up doing that as well. $80 is the cheapest I've seen them run.

Are you saying you don't see pure white in German Shorthair pointers? Like this one?
    or this one?
have owned a few Germans all had white in the coloring. When you say pure white are you talking shade of white or white without spots?

One of our friends said, "females have agendas." I scoffed... com'on. She was right. This girl of mine is something! We can be 100 yds or more from someone playing ball with their dog on the beach. Smudge still thinks she's the boss of the world. Goofy dog child.

At our house we refer to this sort of behavior as... fear of mom going through a portal. Such as... I've got to close the bathroom door now for my shower. Stop freaking out. It's not a portal.

Sausage boy is a charmer, easy to see that! :)

Smart man. We neutered our German Shepard pup right at four months. I didn't want aggression issues with my elderly, dying cattle dog. By 10 months, Max was 30 inches at the shoulder. Dogus Giganticus. I said, shoot we should have named him Clifford!

I actually rescued Chance (his real name) from being sent to a shelter at 1 year, 2 months of his life. He has been with us for 5 months at this point. Making him 1 year, 7 months. When I picked him up he was really really bad with bathroom manners and behavior. He was always a loving boy but he needed some serious work. Right at about 1 yr./5 mo. I broke him and things finally clicked with him in his mind. He is a great dog now and is finally allowed on the bed, definitely a great listener and he knows when its time to calm down and when its time to play. He's a real character! :)

I've always believed in the gentle nature of Bull Terriers. A lady in an obedience class years ago referred to her boy as a Spit Bull. When he was happy slobber went everywhere.

it took us a year to potty train Perry he'd been so terrorized as a two month old. I feel your challenges.

Any quirky routines with Chance? If Perry gets scolded, first thing he does is whip his head back and down to check his plumbing. It's so ridiculous there's no way to stay mad at him.

Dunno where he picked it up.... or I'll ask him, do you need to go out to go potty? First thing he does... tuck head, check peepee. Our sweet, demented runty boy.

You know, he's actually a very clean clean boy. To give you an idea of how clean he is, he doesn't slobber at all like ever. Since he is fixed he doesn't lift his leg to pee and mark his territory, he squats down like a girl. He doesn't lick his junk at all, and most of the time he does his best to stay nice and clean.

Unfortunately he suffers from some pretty rough allergies. Every morning that I come home from shift or that I wake up on my days off to let him out he starts coughing and clearing his throat because he has like a post nasal drip. He gets a pretty heavy runny nose every so often. It's usually indicative of when he is going to have a bad day allergy wise.

As far as quirks go he's a total fruit dog. He loves pineapple, apple, strawberries and banana's. He'll come into the kitchen and wait for me to chop up some fruit for him and will just look at my patiently until I do so. When I ask him if he has to go potty he'll go wagging his tail and run to the door, sometimes he gets so impatient to go outside that I'll go and open the door and the screen is still closed, so he'll run right into it. I laugh at him when I happens (I am an evil parent) Hahahaha.

During the house breaking period though, until he started understanding the way of the household, I trained him old school military style. You mess up and you receive a consequence (whether it is a heavy scolding or a spanking and time out). If he is having accidents because he is sick and doesn't feel well, obviously its not an issue of self control, so I understand and let him lay down as I clean the mess up. He loves me to death but if he messes up to this day and he sees that I get upset he never forgets how I was, though because he is older now and understands I am much easier going on him.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
We just got our results back from our "lab pointer mix". Yeah, not quite. Her two predominant breeds are Bull Mastiff, and Staffordshire Terrier. A lot of "mixed breed" in the tree too, so a little disappointed in spending $65 to find out she's a mix, kinda figured that out already. But it does give a piece of mind. Now looking at her, you can see the Staffy. Although a little disappointed in the lack of identification, I could have wasted that $ on something much worse than a great companion.

Mixed breeds are actually better then purebreeds (eg incest dogs) because they are much less prone from suffering from the inherent long term problems that their otherwise purebred counterparts suffer from.
