You must of bought some extra low quality LED's. Let me guess, you still use a halogen flashlight too huh?

You must not know how to read...

I never said I had them.. as I don't want them.

Why don't you read the review threads regarding these LEDs. Multiple people claiming very short bulb life, equal if not less output than HIDs, for a higher cost. No thanks.

Yup, you got me.. halogen ftw...

False. You can get LED's in a Kelvin range that reproduces daylight more accurately than a halogen bulb.

He'll man up and PM you if he hasn't already, I haven't known him but a short while, having said that I've trusted him with $1000 to retrieve something for me ( he offered, I didn't ask ) to bring back to AZ from California, all this before even meeting Connor for the first time.

As stated, he's a good kid and I trust him and I have every confidence he'll set things straight privately like a classy individual should . . .

Look at the Nichia 219, for instance. Over 200 lumens at the emitter, 4200-4700K white, and a CRI of 92+ for nearly perfect color reproduction. It's next on my list of dumb flashlight builds to put together.

x2, a $25 surefire knock off from Amazon will blow away anything in Maglites arsenal.

Sure, sorry for being blunt, I didn't mean you shouldn't buy them. You were talking about brightness and accuracy of color, which are not specs that are good on maglites. They're cheap and reliable. A good Nichia (or even CREE) LED will outperform Surefire's very good halogen bulbs for a much lower price.

Same. They are flashlights... for the occasional use..

I have a knockoff $20 zoomable LED flashlight as my main house/truck light.. the rest are maglight LED's.. that get seldomly used and beaten to hell. Why spend so much on a flashlight.. :notsure:

If I was considering a budget light. Maglite wouldn't even be on the list.

For pre-built lights, I think EagleTac is doing the best ones right now, but they're on the upper end of what I would consider "budget"... Fenix are good for the price. If you don't mind ordering from China and waiting forever, you can put together a Surefire-quality light putting out 1100 lumens at the emitter for under $50.

Hahaha! Fair enough. We all have our vices.

I do really like this little zoomable I have.

Just a quick link I found of one like it..

Yeah, that looks like the generic Ultrafire zoomable that's been labelled under quite a few brands the last few years:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MROLX0/

I generally recommend those or the Ultrafire 501 to people looking for cheap, bright lights. For what most people want out of a flashlight, a reflector is better than a cheap aspheric lens, IMO. The 501 is a traditional reflector.

If you spend a bit more, you can get really high quality Surefire 6P compatible body from Solarforce that is water tight, HAIII anodized, and much beefier.

I want a baton that's a flashlight. Blind people are easier to beat. Cost $21.73

I don't really like the bodies on them, and they over-rate their lights by a lot, but for the price they're unbeatable. $10-15 on Amazon all day long. I would recommend upgrading the batteries.

If I was going to build you a cheap one, I'd basically build this and it would cost more:

    http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?t=LF&s=54&id=582

Solarforce sells direct out of Hong Kong, so the shipping can take 2-4 weeks, but they're really nice. They take CR123 or 18650 rechargeables:

    http://www.amazon.com/version-NITECORE-Intellicharge-universal-Eleccessory/dp/B00M6JTILK

    http://www.amazon.com/Industrial-Rechargeable-Orbtronic-Protection-Performance/dp/B0062ANS7O/

Those 3 things are all I could ever recommend someone that just wants to not worry about their flashlight at all.

Have all 3 of these items, I have a different flashlight body but it's a Solar Force. Best flashlight I have ever used, those batteries are also worth the money, the ratings they give for MAH are accurate. Brighter than anything any of your friends have. I guarantee it. Especially your friends with maglites :stirthepot:
