I live in Calgary, Canada and bought the ScanGauge II and tried to get Ambient Air Temp on my 2014 Tacoma, with no luck. I tried:

    Ambient Air Temperature (F)
    txd 07DF0146
    rxf 044105460000
    rxd 2808
    mth 00090005FFD8
    Degrees Fahrenheit

    as well as

    Ambient Air Temperature (C)
    txd 07DF0146
    rxf 044105460000
    rxd 2808
    mth 00010001FFD8
    Degrees Celsius

Has anybody else out there had success?

From a post on the first page...

    ultragauge i don't know

scangauge program an xgauge for it

    Ambient Air Temperature (F)

    txd 07DF0146
    rxf 044105460000
    rxd 2808
    mth 00090005FFD8

    ambient AIR Degrees Fahrenheit

yes I mean outside temp, not intake temp which as stated is always gonna
be 2deg warmer than true outside temp

if above doesn't work try this txd
    616AF10146

    044105460000
    2808
    00090005FFD8

They list a second option...try that one and see if it works. Might try that on my 2015 tomorrow to see if either setting works as right now I am using Intake Air Temp.

Neither of the listed options worked on my 2015 Tacoma using a Scan Gauge II X-gauge option. Still have the Intake Air temp, but would be nice to get the real thing off the AC probe if it is available....hope someone finds a code that works!

Well, I obviously tried those codes quoted, and then some. Still no luck. I wonder if anybody else has codes that work. It appears to require CANSF. I am trying to get ambient air temp... to no avail.

Old Thread, I KNOW but the ScanGauge II shows under CANSF for Toyota codes for the Ambient Air Temperature. I entered the code for the F degree one and no go. I just went out to my 2015 and found one just below the hood latch I will upload a picture. I named it something other than AIR did I screw up and I am assuming the 0 are Zeros not O letters. This is what I used from the ScanGauge II website.

    Anybody??

To follow up on the above post! I also have a 2015 Off Road TRD. No stock ambient temp display. So I have bought a Gentex mirror and mounted it. I was just about to run the wires for the temp sensor, and as I look at the front pillar behind the grill, bingo! An ambient temp sensor already mounted! I’ll include a photo! So what is the sensor for? Is it for the AC? Doesn’t make sense the system is so basic. Why is it there? Can I just tap into this for the Gentex mirror. Do I have to mount the Gentex temp sensor right above it? Rather redundant. Just a bit confused.

Yes that sensor is for the A/C Amplifier only, no you can not tap into it or read data from it.
Yes you have to run a separate sensor for the mirror.

First mod I did after I got my truck. My previous vehicle had temp and compass display on the main display screen, but no auto-dim. I got the Gentex 455 dual constant display auto-dim kit from Bob's mirrors. It included the harness kit with sensor run to the front of the radiator. Fishing the sensor wiring through the firewall was challenging, but otherwise it went fine.

I also discovered this model displays an "ICE" warning on the display when the temps drop to 38 degrees or lower to alert the driver to possible hazardous conditons. It alternates between that and the compass/temp reading for about 40 seconds and then returns to the normal display.

What he says above!!! Bob/Bob's mirrors also warns against messing with this sensor and/or tapping into the wiring: It will immediately destroy the sensor and the amplifier, fry the mirror and possibly other expensive A/C components. I cannot say what year this change was made by Toyota.

Has anyone tried installing the FJCruiser 3-gauge on-dash cluster to their TRD OffRoad?

Why doesn’t this sensor exist on the 2.7?
