I used to be a Troy only back up sight kinda guy. I've started using the MBUS sights and they are good to go. I read similar tests that rated them the best for abuse.

It's .6oz lighter than the SS one.

EDIT - I see what you're saying about eliminating the side and bottom rails. But I'd like the option of being able to mount something on the side if I needed it.

If a sixer was all it took for a trigger job I may need to drive up there with some cases and have you help me put my rifle together whenever it's all done.

I think I'll definitely get a different kind of trigger than whatever is included in the parts kit; or just get one without the trigger group.

Like I said before, no rush on this build and I might as well put some quality shit on it.

For what it's worth, I always recommend a quality 1-4x scope over a red dot and magnifier. You get the benefit of clearer and brighter optics, a non-illuminated reticle (when you want it) and a reticle with useful holdover. Add a throw lever and it's just as fast as a fold-over magnifier. I like the Viper PST as a baseline, and they just get better from there. And you're spending a couple hundred less on a setup like this:

Welp, finally finished it; for the most part anyway. Still need to get an optic.

I went with the MBUS cause I read a review/comparison about them holding up to some crazy torture tests and I figured if I was going to spend the money on a quality optic, then the back-up sights wouldn't really matter to me.

I'll try and find the link to that thread. Think it compared them to Midwests back up irons and Troys back up irons.
