Back at work after a few days off. My father passed away on Sat. Not unexpected, but still a lot to do in a short period.

 

Sorry to read that brother. Expected or not; still a rough time. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

 

It hit me like a truck full of bricks when my mom died, even though it was expected. I'll send some positive thoughts your way.

I agree! Always a lot to do, and not pleasant jobs either.

 

+1 the other half of IT decided to upgrade a bunch of things Friday night so that means in an hour or two when England wakes up things are going to turn to shit real fast. Sigh.

Fix two things, break four others. It's the IT way.

2nd shift bails out of here on Fri with zero f$&ks given. Looks like a tornado hit this place.
Dead machines, trash everywhere. I would hate to.see some of these peoples homes.
Hence why I NEVER have eatin at any of the pitch ins here at work.

I've been looking at shiny add-ons for one of my motorcycles. Then I whiplash back into reality and remind myself I'm trying to pay OFF my credit cards this year. Not rack them up.

It's kinda freaky that if I bought everything I wanted I'd have more money in aftermarket accessories on it then the bike cost!

If you want to take control of your money give this a look. I don't agree 100%, upper 90's% for sure. A lot of common sense. And I thought I knew how to budget

 

Oh yeah I've heard about some of his stuff. A guy on another team in IT is a big fan of his and while I don't follow his plan I've figured out my own system and retirement methodology that just so happens to align pretty closely with his views.

The credit cards are cut up save one for emergencies that I don't carry with me anymore. It's just a matter of paying off two years of living beyond my means. Hence the camping in the woods all summer while commuting down to work gig.

The basics of my retirement plan are to have my house paid off by the time I'm 52. I'll finish school at age 32 and will have about 28-35k in debt from that Plus about 15k left on the truck by then or so and then I have to save up for a house/land down-payment. It's not going to be easy financially with school costs this late in the game, but it's a cost that'll pay dividends in the long run in terms of my happiness and mental health. The belt tightening I'm learning painfully this year is going to help over the next several years.



Of course I'm relying on my inner charms to repulse women because getting married just throws a monkeywrench into plans. Alas I'll deal with that bridge if I ever cross it. I might be eccentric enough that I never will.

Nite #2 has shit the bed.
60 ton, dual hook overhead crane is out of commission. Was acting strange as soon as I fire it up.
The aux 20 ton hook wasn't working at all. Got the main 60 ton hook to drop after several tries, got the part strapped up(60 ton is overkill for this 10k part) and just about got it on the table and its now DOA.
Part is litterally hovering 2 ft above its intended target and is not responding.

 

Sounds like fun! Suspended load on a broken crane!
