True. Yours did awesome last year.

I wish I'd brought my dads to try them side by side.

No joke...but I guess if they get put to use often they're worth the cost. Gage's set has saved our asses quite a few times.

Now that I think about it I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a time I went wheeling with Gage and we didn't have to break out the maxtrax lol

Yeah, money well spent in my eyes. They have kept me from shoveling many time. Probably helped me from walking home even . There is certainly a limit to them though (such as 2wd and a giant mud pit :anonymous:).

If I had the cash lying around I would have a second pair.

They are pretty ideal for spring wheeling that's for sure..

But you can get the treds for super cheap.

Group buy for those right now too. 170 bucks a pair.

Because I could, I set up the tent this afternoon... to air it out after a long winter of being all closed up. haha.

Was awesome, got a strong whiff of wyoming campfire when I first got in it. :D

Anybody else here run a double din screen head unit besides Steve?

Been toying with adding a camera to the front bumper somewhere for in cab spotting while on trail. I'd love to run it through a HU with a screen but am not positive on the hoops to jump through to get it to roll the signal while moving... Anybody have input on this? Jberry's recent post about running one got me thinking of how dang handy it could be.

I am in the same boat getting in my garage with the tent on Mike. If I ever go to 35's my truck would not fit :pout:

I have a double din head unit for mine. I don't have a front camera but I do have a back one that I am able to turn on whenever I feel like either in reverse or while cruising down the highway.

What I did was run the camera power to a switch in the cab. Also attached to the same switch is the reverse signal for my head unit. So when I flip the switch the camera gets power and the head unit thinks the truck is in reverse. Worked like a charm for over a year now.

I have not done this on my truck so take it with a grain or 2...

I helped my friend Mark install a ddin along with a backup camera in his Tundra. Along with a port for the camera input, there was a second port on the back of the HU for a 'sense' wire that was supposed to tell the unit when the truck was in reverse so it could turn on the display. I say 'supposed to' because we could never get it to work that evening. He had to take it to a shop to get it going.

It was definitely not straight forward process to get the HU to display the camera input for some reason. I suspect these unit manufactures are dealing with liability issues of a rear camera view being on all of the time.

But the point is, the HU was expecting something to trigger the function. For a front camera, I would think a manual signal, perhaps a switch of some sort could provide this trigger. :notsure:

I had a problem with mine and it was just a setting I had to change in the head unit settings so it knew there was a camera attached. but other than that I thought it was pretty straight forward

I may or may not have the same camera he got :anonymous:
Couldn't pass it up for future possibilities for 18 bucks... it has wires to connect or not connect for reversed or non reversed image.

    I'll shoot him a pm.

What HU are you running Matt?

Thanks for all the input fellas! I'm sure it's dooable i just have zero experience with that kind of sorcery.

Im running the pioneer appradio 2

All I had to do is mount my camera, Wire it to the switch and then run the reverse sensor wire to the switch as well.

Do you have a link to the camera? For $18 I'm tempted to try it out.

As for headunit, I'm running a Kenwood DNX9960. I have the reverse camera wired to it, but it does have another RCA video input to run a front camera. As for video while the vehicle is in motion, on the Kenwoods you just need to wire the parking brake sensor wire to ground.

Where did you see they break??

You have to trick the CD player to make it think your in park. Should be easy to setup a wire loop for it.

My thing that I have against the whole camera thing because Colinb has three I think now for self spotting is simple..dirt.

If they are in a spot to see the wheels or whatever. They are just gonna get destroyed with dirt and mud so half the time you can't see anyways.

    So I don't get it.

But should be easy enough to install. Id go check out Colin's build. He does a lot of random cool stuff like that. Something to consider is just getting a screen and mounting somewhere with the cameras on switches. Can get a 7" tft screen for way cheaper then a headunit.

Also most video screen units have two inputs now.

Be simple to setup if you got one.

    Dang Mike! Cutting it close.

It does look like the red head is high now. Even the front seems higher then normal.

What I did to bypass my head units parking brake sensor was to wire it to a grounded switch. Apparently the pioneers need to feel it go on, off, on before it will allow some of the controls it blocks when the parking brake is off.

I'll find the pictures later Monte. It was in a review video. They still seem to work so I guess breaking a few of them would be the cost efficient way to getting a lot of traction haha

I know those screens are pretty cheap Monte, but that's more wires to run and where am I going to mount it without taking up other space I want left open?
