Hey guys, sold my Duramax a month or two ago and I think I'm going to buy a tacoma soon, hopefully tomorrow. The only thing is the one I'm looking at is a base. Its a good deal and I want to lift it, put on fender flares, rims, tires with any truck I buy so basically is the base for me? I already got quoted to put a rear view camera and fog lights for fairly cheap so do I really need the TDR?

Will you use the TRD? Do you plan on off roading? Where you live, is there often snow that could potentially cause a problem on roads? If so, you will benefit from the TRD package.

I have a base model and don't really need the TRD. I live in Texas, so no snow. I also don't really off road that often.

hey sorry guys ended up getting a 2014 white 4 door TRD Offroad after much more research on here, it has every option expect heated seats and I've already put the 18in XSP rims and tires on it.

Im now looking into the lift and was about to go 5100 with ebiach springs but then heard about the new 6112, but it cost 750 for the front and 425 for the rear for a grand total of almost 1200 dollars, then i found out that FOX 2.0 preformance series coil overs for only 1100 dollars...
Anyone have any advise? I want to lift the truck around 3 inches and put 275s on the truck and really the only off roading ill be doing is gravel roads and speed bumps...

    Yes sir
$1100 for just the front though right? If I recall correctly, fox shocks are $500 a piece so you'd be looking at roughly $2000 in total. If you want to stick around $1000, I'd go with an OME setup or what of Icon's "stage" setups; I believe icon has like 7 stages or something and they increase in quality, components, and obviously price.

Old man emu: 887's will give you 3 inches of lift and have the same spring rate as 884's and 885's. 884's give you like 1.5-2.0 inches of lift and 885's give you something like 2.0-2.5 inches of lift. However, you can use a top plate spacer to get to 3 inches with the 885's, but since the 887's have the same spring rate I'd just go with them. In fact, mine are sitting in the garage right now :D. Then I'd either go with an add-a-leaf for the rear lift, should give you like 2.5 inches or go with dakars, they're more pricy, give you 2.75 inches of lift, and are much better quality than an add-a-leaf/stock leafs.

I would also get an aftermarket set of upper control arms so you can get better toe, camber, and caster degrees and not ruin a new set of tires.

    05+ Toyota Tacoma
    2 each of 985-02-002, & 2 each of 980-24-670 Front & Rear Shock Kit
    MSRP:$1,119.80

sounds like 4 total so I'm assuming front and back????
But I may look into icon's many stages.....

and isn't the old man emu basically same thing as the blisten 5100s, maybe a little better....

Just trying to get this thing up off the road and over some speed bumps while hopefully adding some resale value lol

Hmm okay, I guess I'm looking at some different fox setups. OME would be better than bilstein just like icon is better than bilstein and OME (depending on which stage).

If you go bilstein, you're going with their adjustable shocks and if you want you can get the eibach coils. It's a more affordable way of lifting your truck.

OME would be next and you choose a coil that gives you the length of lift you're after, OME shocks and then either an add-a-leaf or dakar leaf pack.

Lastly, icon would be a step up from both, although you can choose an icon setup that is right on par with OME.

Check out wheelersoffroad.com or allprooffroad.com or other websites that sell lift kits with everything you'll need and you can price out from there what you are looking for along with how much you can spend

Definitely look at getting some aftermarket upper control arms. Sounds like any of the common brands in here will work for you. Your truck will drive a lot better.

Still weighing my options on shocks I'm kinda getting worried about not getting enough lift though...
Also would it be a terrible idea to wait on the UCA till i can recoup more money or is it going to be terrible without it?
