Your either going to get a new frame, or get yours CRC'd.

Look at this one. The hole is in the fully boxed section of the frame, near the body mount (On the inside of the frame). It is likely on both sides. Check this area on your truck. This is the most common problem area.

A golf buddy of mine is working with a different dealer than I am, they are recommending the following replacements on his 2005. He has 90K on his and is planning to keep his till at least 200k. They recommend replacing the following: gas tank, fuel pump; brake lines, struts, shocks . I have 120K should I look at doing the same?

I didnt think you really had a choice in what to have replaced. You just get what they give.

So i brought mine in for inspection and the frame is getting replaced. I used a loaner for almost a month but then went back and got my truck because i didnt want it to sit on the lot for 4 months. Plus i need a truck, not a car. Anyway, my truck is now leaving rust marks on my garage floor, which it never did before. What's involved in their inspection? They must have done more than hit it with a hammer, seems like they maybe sprayed something?

Its crazy for sure. I find it interesting why the frames fail at certain point for the 1st gens and the 2nd gens and how they are similar and different.

Just got my frame inspection letter today. Figure I might as well get the inspection done, even though I don't remember seeing any rust on it. Plus I wash it every time I wash the truck. Going to remove my airbags before I take it in though. Going to look funny sagging.

I called my dealer, he indicated I they can/would do anything I want; when they call telling me that my truck is ready, we can discuss what I want and they will provide me with an estimate.

On a side note; they are now telling people 6-7 months.

Got mine yesterday. I was thinking it may be the long lost "remedy" for the leaf springs. Alas, I was disappointed it was for a frame inspection.

Just got mine inspected , they gave me a loaner and said it passed and would get it sprayed and back by 6pm. They bugged me about this recall and called multiple times to get me in.

The loaner was a tacoma from enterprise and the kid at the counter was like "i didnt know they had tundras". What???? Thats not good. Then he says oh "they're here to pick it up". They farmed the spraying out to a third party.

Now Im thinking they didnt "inspect" it real well.

I go into the bay to get stuff out of the truck and they threw my spare in the locked back on top of my $300 flyrod.

Sure enough I have to come back because they didnt call me to check on it. Kid says to take the rental home because the "spray" has to dry. He will call in the morning.

I live over an hour from this dealer. 1pm rolls around and no call, so I call and another dude says "oh its ready to pick up" . I leave and almost get there and the first kid calls me "it will now be ready between 3pm and 4pm and we close early at 4pm today." So now I have to kill a good hour.

Get there look under the truck and the spray is still liquid....and its everywhere, on the engine on the struts , on the radiator. I go in and ask why its still liquid when they wanted it to dry. Kid fumbles over his words and another douche says "it will take 30 days to dry" What??? Kid goes out to look at the overspray and just says "well if it smells like burning call me and I'll call them"

No paper work, no name of the third party. What a joke....and then at home I get under it and theres dirt in the spray of course and even though they oversprayed the company missed spots on the frame that are bare.

    Im writing toyota.

Just got my truck back thurs.
It took them over 2 weeks and then they said couldn't do alignment because I needed wheel bearings. I told me to give me price since I had their rent a car.
price $800 for bearings!!!! WTF Told them put wheels on so I could take it home.
Asked if everything was OK by my rep (LOL)
Told him he said would replace anything at parts cost no labor so why would I pay $800 for bearings.
They also listed other things they felt should be done with labor included.
Asked the guy 3 times to give me price on shocks, never did.
    This dealer is a joke

Haha. I'm in South Carolina and my truck is the only truck at the dealership getting a frame replacement done. I think they just recently approved one more there. Frame and parts arrived and installed within a month, minus a wire harness. Everything is done and sitting, wire harness has yet to arrive with no eta. Going on 4 months now.....

I did however speak with my service rep today, and he mentioned that toyota will be releasing an ammendment to the current frame recalls that will allow them to re-use the old wire harness if it is not damaged. Said it's still in the interim phases, but should be official soon.
