    Hey,

I just bought a used 2007 tacoma 4x4 access cab 2.7l. I went to check the oil today and there appears to be a piece of the plastic end of the dipstick handle stuck in the tube down about 1" down from the top. there is a visible slot where you can still pass the dipstick through but I am unable to get an accurate reading on the dipstick as it smears as it comes through. and requires a significant amount of force to insert/ pull. There should not be anything 1" down from the top of the tube correct? I have tried to pull it out with a cutoff allen key but didn't want to pull to hard in case it is meant to be there! Has anyone replaced the entire tube?

    Thanks,

    Mark

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Maybe a paperclip unfolded with the ends just turned over a touch to grip the underside or a fairly long thin screw might catch it enough to pull out.

I tried cutting off a 1.5mm jet allen key and pulling it up but it would not budge. I ended up removing the dipstick housing and drilling out the plastic upside down and cleaning it thoroughly. the tube was simple to get out I just had to undo one nut and hit it up from the bottom with a long flat head screwdriver. I am not sure how the previous owner managed to snap the dipstick off where it did but i did not need any new parts and I can now read my dipstick!

Use an air compressor to force air into the crank case, it will fly out. Ive done a few this way.
