I'm wanting our customers to respond to this so it's not just me talking to you, but I would like to interject my two cents... if I may? ;)

    1) Powder coating is way stronger than paint & worth the $200... it can be easily touched up by using spray paint. Tyler uses & recommends: Rust-Oleum Satin Black

    2) LineX looks amazing and we have several customers who run their armor with it-definitely holds up well. Only complaint I've heard is the texture collects the dirt that off-roading kicks up so it never quite looks as clean as the smooth surface does, BUT it still looks amazing. Personally, I chose LineX for my sliders to provide me with the extra grip for stepping-since I'm short and use mine as steps! ha ha:p

    3) If you go with a Steel bumper I would powder it & protect it from rusting, then touch up as suggested. However, if you order Aluminum, you don't ever have to worry about rusting, so can powder, LineX or paint it & then touch up when it gets scratched.

At the end of the day it's a matter of your preference & we're just here to make you happy! :D

of course Satin, i wont judge a comment just because its your company. info is info. i know next to nothing about powder coating, and the more i read my post, it sounds like im judging the powder coating abilities of the shop and i dont mean it that way at all. i have just never had a powder coated product before that has been abused in any way.

Nah, your message was just fine. Didn't take it in a bad way at all-just understand your concerns & want to offer my two cents. Do hope others will chime in on their opinions as well! :)

Powdercoat, hands down. Abuse it enough, it will chip. If applied right, it will hold up to rock hits on the highway, and slow scuffs from trees, but drag it along a rock or hit a boulder and it'll chip like anything else. But it's much more durable and looks better than anything else out there. I've had my powdercoated Pelfreybilt front bumper and skids for a year and a half, and I abuse the absolute heck out of them. I use touch up spray paint to hide the scuffs that I can. I wouldn't even consider paint or line-x.

    Check the build thread.
I am also a powder coating fan. Worth the $200 for sure! If there is ever bad scrapes or chips its each to touch up with some spray paint.

I've seen some line-x sprayed bumpers that looked good - but not my personal style for a daily driver.

I've pretty much spray painted everything I've owned my entire life... seriously everything. So I know how shitty it is. My Pelfreybilt bumpers are powder coated and I am absolutely in love with them! I just drove 3,300 miles through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho and got a few sweet rock chips on the front end of my NEW truck BUT the bumper is still 100%!

I'm definitely happy with the $200 purchase and I wouldn't change a thing!

Also in for powder coat. Totally worth it. I went with a textured flat black that is damn near identical to the Rustoleum spray on bedliner which makes touch ups a breeze. You can also ask the powder coater to double up on the thickness that will see rock chips more. I had my guy do that to the under side of the sliders and under side of the HC rear bumper.

Standard rear bumper is on my long-term wish list. A few things on the TODO list before that happens though.
