True. Doubt they would take off more than a couple grand though.

Yup, buying new is a good idea if what you are buying has good resale, and you are going to drive the wheels off it.

    Not true.

    2013 Toyota 4Runner MSRP - $31,490 - $41,030
    2014 Toyota 4Runner (facelift) MSRP - $32,820 - $43,400
    2015 Toyota 4Runner MSRP - $33,210 - $43,620

    Let's check out some more...

    2013 Tundra MSRP - $25,455 - $48,170
    2014 Tundra (facelift) MSRP - $26,200 - $47,600
    2015 Tundra MSRP - $28,510 - $47,975

    2011 Tacoma MSRP - $16,365 - $27,525
    2012 Tacoma (facelift) MSRP - $17,125 - $28,085
    2015 Tacoma MSRP - $20,965 - $37,615 (due to TRD Pro?)

2016 Tacoma ??? Not too sure about that one yet but prices seem to jump about $1000 give or take with each model year regardless of a physical refresh... not too sure about the jump on price when you throw a new engine in it. I'm hoping I can snag a 2016 DCLB Sport for $35k or less.

    2024 Tacoma (hopefully)
A while back I posted my first impression of the 2015 GMC Canyon. I didn't have time to wait for the 2016 Tacoma, so I leased a loaded Canyon SLT for 2 years. I've had 4 Toyotas prior to the Canyon, so please don't slam me as a GM fanboy. Someone asked me to do a long term review, so here it is:

After 3 months, I'm still very impressed with the truck. The new Tacoma had better be good in order to compete with it. Engine power is excellent (300hp 3.6l V6). The transmission is excellent also; shifts are quick and happen at the right time. The highway MPGs are as promised. I averaged close to 25 MPG on a recent 2300 mile trip.

Fit and finish are much better than I expected for a GM product, although the hood isn't lined up 100% perfectly with the fenders. The interior is well thought out and comfortable. The infotainment system is far superior to the Entune in my Corolla. Its really intuitive to use, even for someone like me who's not really tech savvy.

The ride and handling are very refined compared to any other pickup I've owned. It does get a bit bouncy if you hit a bumpy section of road at highway speeds. Body roll on corners is minimal. I have not taken it off road yet, so I can't comment on its ability there.

Overall, GM did a great job; far better than I expected. Honestly, it feels more like a Japanese designed truck than a domestic. They have set the bar extremely high for the midsize segment. I hope the new Tacoma equals or beats the Colorado/Canyon, as I plan to be back in one in 2017 if it does.

I did the same exact thing as you. Owned a 2008 V8 4Runner and I had been thinking about getting a Taco since about 2012 but had been waiting thinking the new model was going to be coming out soon. (and it will but 9 months too late) My other car lease ended and I needed a new vehicle at the end of Jan so I decided on leasing a Canyon SLT. It's nice but I'm not really sold on the exterior the more I look at it. It looks too front heavy. I'd still like to get into a 2016/17 Tacoma though

Oh yeah, and the "removable air dam" is screwed in from the top down and requires you to undo the wheel well liners and about 26 hex screws to take it off...It looks much better and is more capable with it off though so it's worth it to take it off.

Maybe GM is playing the CYA game and recalling everything just to keep happy customers. I guess its better than ignoring it.

Probably the Diesel. That doesn't bold well for a fall release if they are still in testing now. I'd expect the engine gets bumped back to 2016 if that's the case.

Anyone else remember when Chevy promised the Diesel in Q1 2015. I wonder if the engine had problems passing emissions? If it did then good bye fuel economy and/or power promises.

It didn't have the problem or the brake caliper recall...or the airbag recall. Fuck that sounds bad haha. Like v529 said, I think they are recalling just because they are in deep shit with the ignition recalls already and they want to be sure it doesn't happen again. As an update, I'm actually starting to really like it now too. We'll see if I can still say that 2 yrs from now though

I work in the service dept. parts counter at a Chevy dealer. You will not believe how many stupid recalls I've dealt with over the last year. I'm so burned out on recalls I may need therapy.

Myself and 5 other employees that I know of. I like some of GM's products, but the company is a joke.

The joys of owning a GM. My mom had a Monte Carlo, which they recalled for the ignition problem. Even after they fixed it they told her not to keep anything on her key chain as it might cause it to come out of the ignition while driving.

Just thought I'd share this info that I found funny.

Co-worker went and bought a 2015 Colorado Z71 Extended Cab last week, just returned it today. Paint job looked like hell and he fought with them over a week about it. He couldn't tell when he bought it, black truck and night time. They told him they'd repaint it or replace it but he was not about to let them paint it and they couldn't find another one the same as what he had. Good ole GM quality I guess.

Funny because we were talking about Tacoma's two days prior to his Chevy purchase. He returned the Chevy and is headed over to the Toyota dealership tonight to get a 2015, doesn't like the looks of the 2016.

I always thought GM paint was better quality than Toyota paint, but my last 2 GM vehicles were from the year 2000.
