Is the Toyota Extra Care ext. warranty transferrable?

Bought the truck a year ago and brought it to the dealer today because the A/C fan is making noise. The service writer surprised me by saying if I go to the original dealership there is no deductible. When I questioned him about it he showed me the original owner purchased the Toyota Care Platinum plan. Does anyone know if this is transferrable and how would I go about getting it transfered?

 

I believe it is transferable unless the original owner took a cash out when it was traded in I would check with the selling dealer for details but I believe the transfer is made by the original purchaser endorsing the warranty over to the 2nd owner.

Yup, as long as the seller didn't cash it out then you can transfer it. Sometimes the original owner will need to sign it over which can be a massive PITA.

Has anyone ever had a dealer actually cash out a Platnium Care? I've never tried...

 

Well the dealer gave me the guys info that was listed in the warranty screen so hopefully he won't be like WTF if I call him

 

IIRC when I bought mine, a couple years ago, it can be transferred one time and there is a $50 fee.
Don't know if you need the orig owner to sign off or not.

Transferable upon Original owner signing off.

 

Yeah I had to sign off on an old Ford one. Luckily my buddy bought my car from the dealer so he didn't have to work hard to find the guy to sign off.

 

Well called the number listed for the previous owner. Shortly after leaving a voice mail I get a txt saying he now works in Kazakhstan but he would be happy to help. Also now I can find out why the hell there's a hole drilled in the back of the cab

 

LOL That hole was the beginnings of a 50 cal mounting bracket... then he decided not to take the Tacoma to Kazakhstan with him.

 

Lol I would happily finish that project if that's what it's for. He gave me all the info needed for the transfer, but didn't reply about why he put a hole in the cab.

 

I'm a little lost... you bought a truck from a private seller who bought the Toyota Extended Warranty when they purchased the truck?

I had no clue of the extended warranty till I went to the dealer for a repair and they told me it was covered under Toyota Care
