I agree, restorring something new that was still on my current credit card statement was quite the bonerkill.

That said, the ride is awesome, deals with loads and towing well.

I spoke to Alcan about rear leafs, they will build me what I want. Anyone have experience if they squeak like Dakars?

My OEM leafs with Icon AAL have been silent. I need some lift in back and no way I am going to buy Dakars and "pre-furbish" them. I like the word you guys invented there!

It's not as simple as that.

I think we need a "Do Alcans squeak like Dakars" thread.

But to Drifter, because Alcan will "build you what you want," it will be unique spec and hard to compare to anything else.

They are still leaf springs, though, so I think it will be fair to assume sqeaking will be likely to one degree or another.

Sorry for derailing your thread, OP.

Good idea on the full length liners, just sorry to interrupt the Dakar saga.

...i've pulled all the leafs and wiped the grease mostly off...and used the flapdyck to rid them of flakey paint sections and repainted a bit, and i'll pick up some dry molly lube on monday....and put the pack back together.

The Fluid Film attracts a thick barrier of fine dust that acts as swaddling velvet and repels spray and even stones.

Either way, long, black hard things covered in slippery goo make me happy.

yeah the pond liner patch kit is self adhesive. After applying it, I sprayed it with Moly so hopefully it will stay put and I won't have to dick around with it in the future. If I have any problems in the future, I swear I will drill holes in the ends of the leaves and install those silencer pads that the ARB factory omitted. In nearly 6 years of ownership, my factory 4-leaf Toyota leaves have never made any sounds that bothered me, and I've never had to maintenance them. I hope to do the same with all this prep work.
