Very nice, Wyo. You lucky bastard. Very jealous. Haven't had a fly rod in my hand since last March. Probably won't again until mid June. Might try some Shasta area streams next month, if I'm lucky. 4-5 hour drive for good water. And with the drought here in Cal, it should be interesting.

Went electro fishing today! What a cool experience to just see fish come out of no where haha. There is a pond stream that runs through the park right by my house. We went there and captured 12 browns in a short distance. I have never seen a fish in that stream and I walk it damn near daily with the pup. Needless to say I need to start taking the fly rod on walks.

Anyone ever heard of little heron outfitters rods or better yet use one? I picked one up a 7'6" 3wt on eBay for 50 bucks with shipping. Comes with a rod sock and tube. Seemed like a good deal for a rod for smaller water.

Finally, tonight, I caught my first trout on a fly I tied. All the tying is finally paying, man it feels good

I found a heck of a deal on some top water poppers at the flea market. I bought 34 for 20 bucks. dc8acf160706a477478efcb37b8b3aef_87434ffc9f9757e8ca68a88befe8c62736bb7ad1.jpg I had to tie new tails on a few of them. a49d69d923f450fc0a9e07970d44b049_d996e5f4b01d238ba522e4516a9c1da999c1bcc2.jpg

Only fished then once and caught this bass 8446d6937d0440135f1f3fd74ddd4bcd_35bc244f1456adf6cdaaf114b36ee31a4a9398dd.jpg

Nice fish. Congratulations. I'm told that's a big deal. I don't tie. Too lazy. Not enough patience. I have just enough patience to fly fish. That in itself is an accomplishment for me. You're in Pittsburg, what river are you fishing?

Thanks. I started tying in the fall just to see if I could. I didnt think Id have the patience to do it, but surprisingly I do.

I caught that fish and about 5 or 6 more that night on #10 pink and orange egg patterns. Not pretty but they get the job done -

    9334B9CA-9589-4DDE-82AB-29F34F538FAD_zps_a7276e7acf6d0c9acc07b322ed732d6132ee9884.jpg

I went out again last night after work and caught a dozen of them on the same egg patterns.

I was fishing a small local stream about 20 miles NE of Pittsburgh called Deer Creek.

    Cheers

There's a place here in Blue Ridge that makes Bamboo rods. People come from all over the US to make them, apparently. Dude gets a premium for a dang rod.

The fish were really active and hungry. We were catching them on bead head hair's ears, foam ants, and BWOs.

Great looking spot & Looks like the fishing was good too. If your looking for a old bamboo rod , Heddons are great rods. A #17 or # 20 with a 2 or 2 1/2 ferrule .9 footers are at a very good price so far, around $200.00 with two tips. I am going out in the salt for stripers this morning with my 9ft Orvis Helios, 9wt. Big school yesterday .I hope they are back this morning.

I have a Bamboo that I don't fish with anymore. I found out that I really enjoy a glass rod. I bought a Cabelas CGR around Christmas, and have not touched my other rods since. I kicked around the idea of selling the Bamboo. It is a 7 1/2' 3 piece 2 tip, but I was stupid one day while cleaning ice out of one of the tip guides, and I broke one.

Anyone fish the Golden Trout Wilderness area? I'm planning a 3 day backpack trip up in the area and could use some tips on general areas worth exploring. Thanks!
