I don't have the slightest doubt that more are in production. So it is just a matter of time before they'll be back.

I bet if you gave Gadget a call, he would be able to tell you if they can get you one or not. You should also notice that the MarkIII super charger kit says "in stock" which has the UCON as part of the kit. This tells me that they have the some UCON's in stock. Just pointing that out.

AEM used to make extension harnesses for the 05-08 tacoma (aem 30-2992). I see some online shops still advertise them, but they have been discontinued. For people interested, there might be some floating around for ~$200, but make sure you call or email before buying. Lots of motorsports stores drop ship and don't update their site until someone points out it's no longer available.

Another solution is to find a different vehicle that matches the same ECU harness and use that. Since you don't care which wires are what if you are building your own and you're just using the connectors, it won't matter what vehicle ecu you choose. There are a few other shops that make blank harness extensions like boomslang. I just checked and they do make one for the 05-08 tacoma. http://www.boomslang.us/harness-extension.php. Unfortunately, the only place I know of that has harness extensions for 09+ is unichip. Then again, if you could source a junked 09+ ECU, you could build your own. In the end, for me, the time to track down parts isn't worth the extra savings I might get.

Here's a list that AEM provided for that 30-2992 harness:

I'm not too keen on splicing my ECU, I'd like to see URD have a plug and play kit. So us 09+ ECUs can go boosted. Hell I would pay Krisxone to make me a plug and play harness for my 2011

So does this open up the possibility of being able to completely tune 09-15 trucks? I'm not boosted and don't plan to be but it would be sweet to be able to tune out that awful rev hang that plagues the manual and just get rid of the shitty stock tune in general. I think these trucks run really lean from the factory, which may be why they ping so much.

What year is your truck? The history of these is that they run extremely rich. I'm thinking that yours has the air injection system?

Torspd is right I'm pretty sure from the factory Tacomas run rich....If you have a 2012 and later they have that air injection intake system...and the pinging tends to be from use of low octane I run 93 all day long and have never heard a ping but people that run 87 tend to hear the pinging

I have a 2012, it's got new plugs, the tsb and I run 93 octane and it still pings.

Interestingly, I just read about another guy with a similar problem. His ended up being a faulty OEM fuel pump. Swappee it out with a Walbro 255, and his problem went away. His started as pinging, then progressed to not being able to work. Then he crossed the fuel lines. Fixed it and truck runs great.

    That might be your problem.

I'd check with your local dealer pinging isn't normal/shouldn't be happening
