Not sure if anyone has seen this yet. Found it going through eBay. This harness is supposed to work. I will be trying it next weekend. I contacted the seller and he has a website. Will post if it works. autoharnesshouse.com

Question, starting to try this and got as far as putting the connectors on the video cable. I've never sliced open an rca video cable before so I didn't know what to expect, is the inside supposed to be thin copper wires surrounding a foil layer surrounding a plastic tube?

Do I just twist the copper and foil together and is that the negative, and the copper wire surrounded by the plastic is the positive?

Put the pins on the copper and disregard the rest. One of the connections is a + and the other is -

This is what my cable looks like, are you saying the braided part is the ground? Do I just twisted braids together, or is this the wrong type of cable?

Yes. The copper is the V+ and the silver braid in your photo is the ground or V- that they talk about in the write up.

Changing my entire post here, at first it didn't work but I had the rca plugged into the wrong port on my pioneer. Also, for the 09 at least it is the exact same as the first post, red and black wires. Somebody else posted that they used the red and white wires, but that gave me a black and white image.

I need to get a box of positaps so I can splice into the power wire now, like others discovered I can make the camera come on but not automatically when put into reverse.

I've read this whole thread and one thing I haven't seen, is it possible to tap into a power source that sends constant power to the backup camera? In other words, if I want to switch to the backup cam while I'm driving what do I need to do? Right now, set up like the original OP, the camera turns off after a couple minutes and won't come back on until switching into reverse again.

I know this is from 2013 but it seems to be explaining the same thing I was asking, if I hook up my pioneer reverse sensor wire to that red/white wire will that allow my to use the camera whenever I want, along with turning it on automatically when shifted into reverse?

I don't know, Kingston. I know know I purchased a bypass wire from Amazon for a few bucks. Now when I tow a trailer, I can select "camera" from my display and actually see that the trailer hitch is still "good" and also see, if I am towing a boat that the tires are still inflated.

Ok so I don't have a red/white wire to tap into for the reverse. I only have a solid red wire in the location of the red/white like mentioned in post #99 in this thread. The camera works but only if I select camera on my HU. @medic2230 you're nearby do you have any suggestions?

So I've been searching throughout this whole thread and others for this answer...I have the video signal hooked up to my pioneer head unit but I cannot figure out what wire to connect the purple/white reverse sensor wire from the head unit. People have been discussing this but there is no clear answer on which wire to splice into. I tried using a voltmeter on the red/white/black/black shielded wires that are discussed in the beginning of this thread with no luck (the voltmeter did not get a reading when switched into reverse).

Is there a wire to tap into behind the head unit since the purple/white wire is so short? Or do I need to extend the wire and run it down behind the driver side coin tray?

If someone can just clearly say what wire to connect the purple/white reverse signal input wire I'd appreciate it.

On my 2015, I know that the signal to the HU originates at the ECU behind the glovebox. The red wire shown in that bottom connector that I cut for my multiple camera install.IMG_20150912_164112233.jpg IMG_20150912_163915358.jpg

I just installed a Kenwood DNX6960 and hooked up the RCA cable as described. I'm now having the exact same issue as jarett92: What to do with the purple/white wire from the HU? From the reply from Doug - I need to pull the glove box, find this plug and tap the purple/white wire into the red one from this plug?

That signal should route to the HU, but I haven't pulled the HU to look for it. If you pull the connector behind the glovebox and use a multimeter to probe the available lines that run to the HU, you should be able to find it, I would think.

I found the switched hot wire for witch to hook the infamous purple/white wire to. Its behind the glove box just to the right of cabin air filter. Top black connector and the wire is the top right red one to the right of yellow wire in this photo. Easy to tap into. I just made extension of purple white wire and tapped into this. Now reverse image shows automatically when in reverse. Thanks everyone. If it helps future users this is 2011 non jbl model.

Can anybody tell me what the part number or where to get the other side of the white connector plug that the tailgate oem camera harness would plug into? I have the camera/handle and harness that goes in the tailgate to install in my 07 truck but would like to buy the other connector so i can finish making my harness to run to the cab.

I looked for these before, and I am sorry to say I don't remember where I found them. The male part says 10941N38. Folks should have them as they come with each vehicle with a factory camera to cover the connectors when the tailgate is removed. Because of that, I am reluctant to give mine up. Maybe you can find someone willing to part with theirs.

You could always just clip it off and use Metripac or a sealed Molex type connector to save yourself lots of search time...
