I've got this all worked out in my own head and it helps seeing how others have tackled it.

Yeah me too. I'm wondering if I'll blow another elocker rear. ECGS put my 4.56s in and I drive pretty easy, so hopefully it'll live. If not I have an empty credit card that can soak up a diamond axle....although I rather it not

 

Did you blow your stock gears or your 4.56s? Also how does it feel with 4.56s?

 

I blew the stock gears. They had over 200k miles on them and I had synthetic gear oil which I later learned was a mistake.

The 4.56s feel great so far but I've only putted around town. I'm back to turning reasonable rpms . It was WAY too much gear for 33s

Keep in mind I'm one of those weirdos with the 6speed manual. In an auto it would be the equivalent to 4.88s.

Ditto on the 4.56 w/ 6spd.

 

I'm just passing the information along here, ECGS says not to. Especially Royal Purple. They recommend 90-140 dinosaur oil, so that's what I'm running

 

I love my 4.88's and 33's. Wish I could do 5.29's for when I go bigger. I'm an auto though.

I broke 2 sets of stock gears and 1 set of ECGS 4.88's. I was running redline regular gear oil with the 4.88's. In the new set I am running the redline heavy shock proof stuff.

And I'm not here for the carnage. I'm here for the progress

 

Any pics of the firewall/cab mount chop? Rubbing any where?

4.88 with 33s eh!? I was thinking about doing the regear with lockers before 37s. I think I would end up running the 4.88s with 33s for a while. You don't mind the higher revs? How is it on the highway?

 

Fine. I run about 3K doing 80mph. I have the stock exhaust and the wind and tire noise are louder than the exhaust is at 3K.

 

Damn I'm just running what the factory recommends, I believe it's 75-90... And it's Mobil 1 synthetic. I will definitely switch when I regear. Thanks!

 

Disregard my sloppy rock light wiring. It was thrown in there and made to work with the intent to go back and add more leds and clean it up which will happen in the coming weeks
