    What is left to replace?

Pretty sure we never got to the steering wheel, or the bed liner. Otherwise, it's been replaced. At least once.

    :D

I've learned there are two ways to look at this:

    1) With a positive spin: "Just think, by the time you find what it actually is, you'll have a whole new truck!" This is usually the reaction from a neighbor or friend, when they innocently ask how things are going with the truck, then we begin listing off parts replaced,:sadviolin:frustrations, etc...the "positive spin" response (or some version of it) is usually their response as they get the glazed over look :bored: and duck into their house and end what they thought would be a brief, lighthearted conversation as quickly as possible. :D

    2) With a realistic spin: "You've spent H:eek:W much replacing parts that haven't fixed it?!?!?!?" This is usually the reaction from people like my parents, who have owned American cars/trucks their entire lives, and have ZERO interest in how cars work. When I tell them the Taco is special because it's a 1st gen, and try to explain what's different/less appealing about newer ones, I can almost hear this  and this :der:over the phone.

How exciting would it be if this was the conclusion of our adventures in replacing parts and seeing no change? That'd be pretty damn cool.........:headbang:

Feeling very h:)peful, thanks to :cookiemonster: and jayman

Gonna be kinda boring on this thread if it is the end. It will a very good thing, though and would definitely be worth it.

I know, I forgot what life was like back before the truck was the only thing I ever thought about! Definitely have met some great people along the way though, and that's a gain even after all's said and done :)

This has been an outstanding thread. I've learned sooo much about cookies!

I don't keep track of how much I spend on my rig. I keep a file with all the receipts, sure, but why add it all up? Only those who lovetheirtacolots will understand.

    recaro.jpg

So there is the Recaro upgrade. When I'm on vacation driving around in the desert, I want to be comfortable.

You might notice that the windshield is out. I'm repairing rust caused by improper removal.

There is always more work to be done, more to be learned.

May this thread end soon, having taught a lot of us new tricks, with endless great starts for Jen.

Ahmen, brother. I buy these Toyota trucks wrecked and then put them back together. I can tell you what I paid the junk yards for the truck alone, but have no clue how much I spend to make them safe and dependable. I'm not going to do the math just to depress myself. I'm happy knowing I have a dependable ride.

As for that seat, is it just more safe on the trails or more comfortable? I don't think anyone ever bragged about 1st gen, Tacoma seat comfort. I do find them more comfortable then my 2nd gen Tundra, though.

Is that tan air bag pod in a grey dash? If yes, that makes 2 of us. It is very hard to notice the difference. My wife didn't. I'm waiting for someone to notice.

It's definitely more comfortable. Probably the same, safety-wise. Can't think of a reason it'd be safer.

Stock airbag. The lighting makes it look different, somehow.

I dunno, there is a lot of them. Make sure you are scrolling down the window to see the entire array. I have difficulty choosing sometime s, there are so many!

I just read this out loud and laughed. Eric goes, "Who's a dude?" I said, "THE PAPER BAG GUY!" He said, "Oh, you guys are like way over my head right now."

Some deep thoughts here on TW right now. Good stuff. :D

Jason's going to test drive the Taco truck in a bit and we will see how it's going. I'm totally burnt out on r/r ing injectors at the moment (long sigh), so if the truck is doing well for us maybe you guys could drive it for a week to see if all is ok?

@noahpete, we are so grateful for the enormous amount of extra work you put into this, I don't know how to thank you enough. No one has ever done anything this nice for us, we are eternally grateful to you guys. Wow. If you can get by without your injectors for a bit so we can feel 100% about spending the money on replacing them, we would be so grateful, I am blown away by your generosity in offering to do that! I'm so sorry that you are so worn out from working on this, I can't even imagine how much time and hard work you've put into it, but I know it's been an insane amount - we never expected even a fraction of what you have done for us. Thank you so very much. We could come out tomorrow morning if that worked OK for you? I hope you get a chance to relax soon. And I hope you are getting hungry for cookies!!!! :cookiemonster:

If it was me I buy him the new injectors and keep his in to save all the work of tearing things apart again . If all works as it should now.

    Just a thought!!

This was well above what I have ever seen from any Dealer Tech !!
