Using the bed rail plates, if you mount the pedestals sideways, will 1- or 2- gallon cans lay below the bed so that my Armor Lid tonneau cover can lay flat?

The top of the 1 or 2 gallon Rotopax mounted on the bed rail plates will sit just below the top of the bed. I know many have used them with tonneau covers, but I don't know about with the Armor Lid specifically.

The 3-gallon with the Toyota/Nissan plate does NOT sit below my cover. The plate also easily slips through the rail system rendering it useless.

Thank you for letting us know about these issues. As a dealer, we are fortunately able to get good responses from Great Outdoor Products, but it usually requires a phone call. If anyone purchases through us, we can help with any issues to ensure they are resolved.

After numerous exchanged emails, Jason from Great Outdoors stepped in and refunded me everything, including the shipping. I'm satisfied with the resolution as they did the right thing, and will be amending my previous post.

With that, I hope they tweak their product so it sits below a cover (or at least gives placement options), and doesn't slip out of the bedrail.

The slipping out of the bedrail is an issue im surprised a lot more people haven't complained about.

But it is a simple and cheap fix. I just find a t-nut that fits the thread pitch (can find at home depot or order from somewhere like zoro). Then it is a lot more secure. One mine I also added a rubber "puck" to the bottom backside of the plate just to keep it from bending to much in the rail if slide something into it.

But im with you the bed rail mount setup could be 10x better with just a couple minor changes.

But soon enough ill be adding a gas can rotopax to go along with my 2gal water and the storage one. the storage one I might end up selling though. Im just not really finding a use for mine

Quick question, what size does the Locking pack mount hold? It says it's 4"x3"x 1". Would that be for the 2 gal container? I have a 3gal and a 2gal that I want to mount- would it be too much weight for one pack mount and extension? Would I be better off getting two mounts and mounting the containers separately?
    Thanks in advance.

All depends on what you're mounted TO. I have two 4 gallons that are attached to 1.75" DOM tubing that i know aren't going anywhere. If your mounting surface is strong enough you can extend these all day long.

IMO I wouldnt. Its hard for me to fully trust helicoils for some reason. Especially since I've seen a few pull out. (Different application tho)

I'm completely confident in them holding 2 but not so much 3-4. Not saying they wouldn't be fine, I just have trust issues with helicoils. :)
