6-8 months sitting there waiting can't be good for any vehicle. Tires will get flat spots, I don't even want to think what happens to the gas sitting in the tank, sitting without being driven will take a toll on all rubber parts... ect.

Just got back from the dealer. I go there at least once a week to run it around the parking lot for 15 or so minutes. I agree it's a long time to sit. Will be doing this till I get it back.

Dude seriously you read my mind. The Camry I've got is dirty as fuck. Bird shit all over it. I would give it a mercy wash but it's gonna rain here for the next two days. Mother natures taking care of it.

I did a bunch of dirt roading a few weeks back. Filthy didn't wash it before turning to back in. Oh well. I figured i wouldn't wash it if it was mine and they would wash it again anyways.

Traded for a 4 runner. Little bit of a shock to the system with the switch. Feels like switching from a toy car to a bus.

Good Point, I would think Toyota would take this into consideration with the Many hundreds ++ trucks sitting around for months. As Stated - Flat tire spots, Dead Batteries, Bad Fuel, Dried out seals/ boots = Leaks, etc. etc. I do hope Toyota will not insist the issues were there BEFORE they insisted that the vehicles be left at the dealer. Some sort of "Run up" and vehicle movement / checks would be prudent. Anyone hear of this happening ???

Aside from my battery being dead, knock on wood, everything seems to be fine. Sounds good, runs good. I just take a battery pack when I got up there. I was pissed at first, that the battery was dead, but now I just accept that this is part of a massively free upgrade.

I've read through this thread and the other two related multi-page threads, and was surprised that there hasn't been anyone with a 6" DB lift that has shared their experience with this recall. (at least not that I could find)

Knowing that my frame has holes and would certainly fail the inspection, I prepared myself for the dealer telling me I couldn't take it home. I took it into the dealer this morning and to my surprise they had no problem with me driving it away even though it failed. Guess it wasn't as bad as most, which is surprising considering the truck has spent its entire life in the rust belt.

Still haven't heard back from them on what my options are with the lift. Service manager said he had to call the regional manager. Took a bunch of pictures of the lift and said they would call me. He did confirm that they would not be willing to cut the new frame in order to put the lift back on. Not sure what I should do if they come back and say I have to pay for all new suspension components to get back to stock. (didn't save the original stuff) I guess I could source them myself to save some money. Might just get it back to stock and sell it. Sucks to have put all that money into the lift, coil-overs, leafs, wheels and tires, and now be stuck with a stock truck, or spend a bunch more to have the lift put back on. I guess now I just wait to see what they are willing to do for me.

Just thought I'd share this in case anybody else with a DB lift is wondering about the recall like I was.

i would think they would have to replace the frame and put it back the way you have it.

over two months now. i caved and submitted a complaint on toyota about the wait. got a call today. told them they should buy the truck back for 1.5 times blue book value. doubt it goes anywhere. but it's starting to get frustrating.

i was just thinking about something this weekend.... since they are basically disassembling the entire truck and putting it back together, does Toyota do an alignment on the vehicle before they give it back to you?

Sounds about right. I was just at my dealer and asked where in line is my truck. I'm still behind 6 others. They average 1 or 2 frames a month. I dropped mine off around Feb 12. Best case scenario for me is 3 more months. I'm going to get it back June 1st. No way am I letting it sit any longer.

Well, I dropped the truck off today to get sprayed. Not exactly stoked about it, but it passed inspection twice so I wouldn't be eligible for a frame. I probably could have waited for it to rust more (or sabotaged it myself...), but then again waiting for a frame swap and the risk of having to pay for additional replacements sucks too. It is what it is.

I'm interested to see how it turns out, although I'm not too optimistic. I did some needle scaler prep work myself in areas I did not want them to miss if they're careless and took my spare off as well. I may post some pics up depending on how good/bad it is. Surprisingly the dealer gave me a rental for the days it'll be in the shop; they let me pick any available vehicle at the local Enterprise office. Ended up with a Chevy Silverado crew cab 4x4, so no complaints there considering some of you had to leave your man card in the glovebox when you dropped off your truck and drove home in a Prius... :D

that's my next rental choice. i'm going to test everything that i can get my hands on. plus, i don't think i could handle the 4 runner for another 4 months. i think the suspension knocked a filling loose

the rental guy claims they did a bunch last year or early this year. but i don't recall seeing any other tacoma's sitting on the lot. this entire process is silly. just cut me a check for 15k and i'll be on my way.

I think I might have mine sprayed by an 3rd party company, since I've seen nice work by others. Toyota will at least reimburse that. I don't think my frame will qualify for replacement by next March. When it comes to that time, hopefully there isn't a huge waiting list.

Just a heads up to people getting the recall; while Im glad its been done, I finally got a chance to really look at the work and can't believe some of the work. They must have reused old rusted bolts and left the end of the spare tire holder almost rusted through.....

    Here are some pics....

I wanted to do the d-ring mod, thinking it wouldn't be so bad. They just took the bed off, boy I couldn't be more wrong.

I can understand your frustration/point - but they did not put back anything that was eminent to fail. Like a brake job, they change the pads and turn/replace the drums and re use everything else - unless - it's not serviceable (i.e. bad front bearings, grease seals leaking, etc.). I for one am amazed that Toyota has stood up and are changing the frames on vehicles this old. This was one of the Reasons I left 40 yrs with GM for Toyota. NFW Gm would do this ..... JMHO
