I know, I couldn't agree more. We had great service at noahpete's dealership early on when we bought the Taco and lived closer to it. Then we had varying levels of service at the dealer closer to home after we moved, usually just fine but nothing spectacular. Until the engine failure - they barely gave us the time of day, after we'd been bringing the Taco there for nearly 10 years fairly regularly. We had to make the engine decision based off very little diagnostic info from them, and it made a bad situation much worse than it needed to be - it was a real disappointment, after being a loyal customer for so long. That impacted our decision to have the engine replaced elsewhere; it made me question my loyalty to Toyota a bit; and it made me worry about where I'd take the Taco, or future Toyota trucks for service when major stuff came up....

Until now. I have never been so impressed with the service I have received EVER. Period. Totally blown away by the quality of the diagnostics performed here, wow. Will never buy anything BUT a Toyota as long as noahpete and jayman are willing to be our mechanics forever. At full price PLUS cookies. You guys are the kinds of techs that make the dealer prices we all complain about beyond worthwhile!!:bowdown::cookiemonster:

PS: I feel like I won the lottery - look at how much my new mechanic rocks you guys!!! Struck it rich for sure!! No more being terrified of choosing the wrong place when things go wrong in the future!! Hurray!!

at this point I think you should really consider trading it in on another truck, you need a never ending project to keep this thread going and now that your is FINALLY fixed (and all this pain in your life is because the engine guy defrauded you and charged you for injector work he never had done) well TW will be very boring now.

I gave away my red truck to trade it in to buy the white one because circumstances dictated I couldn't wait around to sell it myself.

plus I was worried you might show up looking for it :p

but hey, if you want another great project like this one was, you can buy my lemon chevy and see if you can fix the vibration issue that GM engineers cant solve

seriously, I am so freakin happy for you right now, you must be walking 3ft off the ground

OK @noahpete, I'm putting my foot down. I DEMAND your dessert order now. Anything you want. Anything at all, I can make it. And can actually most of it pretty well too. Just ask these guys, right Koditten and Bama? :) They can at least vouch for cookies and cinnamon rolls. ;)

AND, you have the advantage of being local. You can choose ANYTHING. Pies don't ship very well, and apparently cookies crumble pretty badly going through USPS (right Koditten?). But you can have anything, because it only has to survive a short trip across town. Pies, cakes, cookies, cheesecake, brownies, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes......you name it. Anything. FYI, I do make a mean pie crust. But the cookies are pretty damn good too. :cookiemonster:

MUST. TELL. ME. NOW. Getting all my baking ingredients out now and cranking up the tunes........

    :D

Thanks buddy!! We are!! Even though technically we are still in a "test mode" while we drive it this week to be sure the injectors are the sole culprit, I am allowing myself to go ahead and celebrate. And bake. And crank up the tunes. And have a glass of wine. Or two. Or.......

Because I know that even if something dumb happens with the truck after this, we are in the best possible hands we could ever hope for. And that's something that is finally letting me sleep at night. These guys just don't quit, even when the chips are down, period. They've more than proven that these past 2 weeks. Wait, side note, did they really figure this thing out THAT fast? Is this really happening? Still pinching myself. Pretty damn awesome :woot:

Thank you so much to all my TW buddies too for sticking with us for FIVE PLUS months (has it really been that long??????) of daily :sadviolin:posts about our miserable journey, and offering awesome advice and moral support from ALL of you, Keakar's laughs when we needed them, Koditten's donor parts and reminders about how awesome 1st gens are when we needed them, DP's fake assignments to look stuff up in the FSM when I was beside myself with anxiety to get my mind off it (and don't forget the yelling at me for adding EDITS! always got me to laugh, even if I was crying ), Mod's perfectly timed smart ass comments about our mechanics pulling Dukes of Hazzard moves in the Taco, Bama's sound advice on parts and helpful guidance, positive spin from so many of you when we lost hope. You guys rock man. Could DEFINITELY not have survived this journey without my TW brothers.

Gotcha. Thanks @noahpete. Sorry if I'm jumping the gun here. Tough not to though, see previous post. Just knowing you guys are on top of this makes me ready to celebrate. :)

Wow. What a lot of post to try to. Respond to.

I will endorse the cookies and C. Rolls. Top shelf. Cookies are the best if eaten like cereal and milk.

I did start to worry when I scanned Keakers post about trading in the white one, or something like that. I was worried that my white one would not be home when I got back. I reread the post and discovered I had nothing to worry about.

Lady, when you get to doing struts and shocks, you are going to be so laid back. Compared to this ordeal, they are going to be child's play.

I hope the test week ends perfectly. I like the idea of just buying NP a set of new injectors. It would be less labor on his end. If your truck likes the used injectors, just keep them. They are very unlikely to fail in the near future. Be aware, this only applies if NP likes the idea. These guys have really worked hard. They deserve everything they ask for. I am impressed.

I'm not sure of the shop they work out of, but they all need a serious Google review...and none of the "5 star, wonderful business" abbreviated bull shit. We need to be putting some serious writing into the body of the review.

In addition, I appreciate being allowed to :threadjacked:on a regular basis. My vacation occured during this very informative time span. I really appreciate the screen shots of the data logs. I may(who am I kidding?) Have been drinking, so my post could have been ill timed.

I know this problem was not my problem, but the information obtained can not have a price put on it. All us off cats that love our first gen Tacomas owe a great amount at gratitude. Primarily, the thanks go to Eric & Jen. They stuck through all the disappointment, but would not give up. The second round of thanks go to our new team of mechanics. You guys also have some serious, tennassity. The 2 teams made this thread worth reading and enjoying.

OK, I just have one question - did you seriously eat those cookies like cereal with milk? Were they really that crumbled? Yikes!! Wow. Although, it does sound pretty yummy anyway, kinda sounds like some wacky homemade version of that crazy sugary cereal, Cookie Crisp, yum! :hungry: Nice and healthy too!

And of course one comment. Couldn't agree more, shocks and struts = yippee, walk in the park time! Especially since you reminded me to check, and we discovered that we had a lifetime warranty on them, and therefore it'll be FREE because Eric can do it  Warning, might be an explosion of posts from us on TW that day - I will be typing while he shouts questions through the window :) He did them before though, so hopefully won't be too bad....

OK, two comments. Thanks for the cinnamon roll endorsement, hoping the batch that's in now lives up to your endorsement!

Fine, three comments. You thought Keakar stole your truck while you were gone? :eek:Confused. Huh?

Well, OK, four. Thanks for the kind words Koditten! You rock man! :)

Now, you still need to make a claim against the engine shop for the valve job they didn't do when the engine got rebuilt...

I forgot about those leak down numbers. I hope some sort of compromise can be reached. How can someone who builds and install engines just assume heads are good? That's just not right.

Wyoming, how could you choose cleaning parts in the sink over your lady?!?!? In my opinion, you outta give her a call and tell her you were wrong. Betting I'm the only one on this thread that will see it that way. I imagine lots of guys getting a good laugh out of your reaction to her ultimatum. Sounds like she was a good one though, if she made ya goodies!

Hetkind and Koditten, thanks for worrying about us. You don't have to though, we are handling those matters just fine. Will update you on all that when we have more news, but for now just know that we are not laying down and taking it, and I think we have a good shot in getting something back. We are getting some awesome help with that part too, which we are also grateful for. :D

Noahpete, almost time to frost these bad boys, then they are heading your way. Hopefully by the time they arrive, there will be the same number in the pan as there is in the photo I just took :D :
