    I am not a hard core off roader. For routes like the ones shown in the pics, is it best to have an auto instead of manual tranny? Just curious as I think you would burn the clutch out in no time...

    Three of us had manuals. Myself, ben and timmy. Marc also had a manual for the two days he was there. Everyone else was an auto.

    The auto vs manual argument is a long fought one haha I actually own both and have offroaded in both. An auto is much easier. Less to think about.

    But the engine braking and overal control of a manual wins for me personally. Plus it is more fun mainly for me. More involved and at times more challenging. That said as long as you know how to drive offroad with a clutch you will not burn through it. I upgraded to a ceramic clutch for that reason.

    But I can say an auto is easier. But I hate going down hill because you have to ride the brakes a lot more. I mean a lot more. And the autos in 1st gens can have tempature issues. And I absolutely hate driving the auto in 4 Lo over semi fast easy stuff. Never is in the gear I want it to be in.


    But...that is just me. Everyone is going to have their own opionion. Prepare yourself for the onslaught of this classic argument haha

    In the long run. You will get good at either one and learn on it and come to enjoy it no matter what. If you ever go wheeling with friends. Swap trucks for a bit to see what the other is like.
