Not unless you wheel hard - I ran that size on stock rims w/o any problems, well I did tear off a front mud flap....

Well got it all together this weekend. Ill make myself useful this time and post a pic.20150504_160503.jpg
OME 882's/Dakar Leaf kit from Wheelers w/ rear axle pin relocate plates (3/4" forward)
    16x8 Vision Soft 8 style (4.5 BS)
    255/85r16 Cooper ST MAXX

Have yet to get it articulated. Might remove the rear axle pin relocate. It was recommended to move the axle forward .5" to get full articulation with that size tire (http://www.expeditionswest.com/equipment/tacoma/bfg_mt_km.html) I couldn't find .5" ones so i got .75" ones from Skyy Manufacturing. Not sure but it seems like the wheel is too far forward now. I guess we will see when I get to twist it up.

IMO, the fact that the boots have started to seep is not necessarily a failure. Whether or not it leads to a tear, only time will tell. The seep is caused by the increased axle angle. The grease is being forced out.

The more axle angle you have the more likely this will occur. FWIW, mine have been seeping for almost 3 years without tearing and without running out of grease. They are the original axles with almost 150K. I do have adjustable COs tho and try to limit the lift to 2.5" over stock. I have also run a diff drop since I first put a lift on it and no swaybar.

That was my assumption, as the angle is rather extreme at the moment. I was hoping the diff drop would relax the angle just enough to eliminate the seep until I can get a heavier bumper up front. I guess I just wasn't expecting them to seep almost as soon as I removed the sway bar. The seep is very minor, I just hate seeing a few grease spots sprayed on the frame and wheel well.

Don't you want to move the axle back, not forward? Never heard of anyone having a problem with axle being too far back with dakars.

Edit: I know you are stoked to be done, but... I think you are gonna need to turn the axle shims around. Just my thoughts...

I agree, front axle look way to far forward.

    Truck looks great though!

delta what are your thoughts on he axle relocation plate? specifically the one you had listed in your build.

I didn't get that, the 10 mm spacers or the 10 mm trim packer for the driver side.
I don't see the taco "lean" on my 4dr and the 10mm spacers I some times pull a trailer with motorcycles.

With my 265 sized tires I do not need to run the axle relocation plates yet. When I step up to 255 I plan to move the axle back to center the axle more with the relocation plates.

That's fine with the spacer and trim packer. I don't have a need to run that yet either.

The Expeditions West post suggests the axle needs to go forward with these size tires so that it will not destroy the rear of the fender under compression. It makes sense that the axle will move back as the spring is compressed because it is anchored solid at the front mount and the rear mount can move forward and back by the way of the shackles. Therefore as the spring compresses and essentially straightens out and gets slightly longer, the axle will move back as it goes up. How much? Im not sure. Most likely a very small amount. I would like to get it on something to compress the rear and see how it goes. Might have to remove the pin relocates at most but I dont believe it should be moved back any from the stock position. The tires were close to the rear of the fender when installed without the lift.

    From the Expeditions West post:

    - Rear: Deaver custom 10 leaf pack with .5" center pin adjustment to midline of truck. Expedition load height: 1.75-2.00". The rear suspension is critical to fitting these tires, as the center pin MUST be moved forward .5" to allow full compression or the tire will destroy the rear of the wheelwell. -

Question for anyone running the dakar leafs, how do they handle a heavy load in the bed? Is there much sag? I'm looking to haul a couple dirt bikes and I want the right leafs to do the job. If any of you could do it again, would you go with the dakars or something different? Thanks!

    100 pages of OME!!!! Awesome.
