which retros did you do?..I have been tossing back and forth the 3" FXR retro for a long time just haven't done it yet.

 

I could use retros. My fogs are brighter than my headlights

 

Mini d2s. The fxr is supposed to be far superior but I've never seen it first hand. The mini d2s you can retro in an afternoon

 

I'll be doing a set of d2s retros as soon as my work straightens out some money issues.

 

I have the mini D2S, if I were to do it over again (which I may because I have another set of stock housings I got cheap), I will go with the FXR.

 

Mine are without a doubt better than stock but would be better if I could figure out why I can't get them to align up anymore and put new hi/lo pig tails in

 

why go with fxr?

IMO it would have to be a significant output increase to make it worth the extra price and the amount of time and difficulty them bitches are to install

I have to find the thread on another forum. They have side by side night shots of the D2S and FXR and several other retros. The FXR seemed to put out a good bit more light than the D2S.

 

and I am the other way around, have only seen the FXR and not the mini d2s. I would love to see them side by side.

word on the street they have a much more spread and light up more area (the actual projector is much larger). Correct me if I am wrong but they also have high and lows built in...I am not sure if the mini d2s do ( IDK, something I have read)

 

Mini d2s have high lows built it. It's s solenoid

 

If you got all the stuff for the minis I'd do it for under 100 for you because it takes no time at all

 

yeah it is insane. It cost about $300 for the FXR kit and paying $1,000 is alot. I guess if they provide you with brand new headlights it is worth it but even then I was going to do a set of aftermarket, OEM replacement headlights at like $250 a set and have mine done for around $550 myself. I don't see where the $400-$500 prem is but hey a lot of people on here have $$$$ to blow.

 

It has been 2 years or more since I have done mine. I can't remember the name of the forum, but it was pretty much dedicated to lighting and automotive stuff.


I would also never drop 1K on lights. I would have to wait for a deal on the FXR's to even get those. Some boy I work with bought some Anzo lights for his Tacoma he just bought, I offered him $30 for his factory lights, and he took it.

 

Phoenix seeing you on here with your hammock so much made me buy a cheap one today cause I want to "hang out" sometime.
