    Hello Folks,
I've seen plenty of exterior & a few interior pics of the 3rd Gen Tacoma and so far I like it. I haven't seen any interior specs or dimensions yet. Does anyone know if the interior is slightly larger than the 2nd Gens?

I hope it's a bit roomier and comfortable than my '08 Tacoma DCSB SR5.

I drove 2,550 in 6 days (Smoky mountains trip) & I was fine but I was alone on that trip. I've done 10 hour trips with my wife and no problems also.

These trucks are advertised as 5 passenger vehicles but I see it as 4 adults or 2 adults with 3 kids.

    Thanks everyone!

The footprint of the cab on the 2016 is identical to that of the gen 2. So there will not be more room in the cab. However, space can be optimized if they use different seats, interior components etc. This is one of those situations where I have to be the guy who says if you want a bigger truck, go full size.

This is definitely a perfect situation for that answer. I just may have to go that route. I guess once I sit in a 3rd Gen I'll make that decision.

I sat in the Colorado and it feels larger to me than the Tacoma. Not sure of the exact dimensions but it sure felt that way.

Yeah. The Colorado is bigger but I don't know how I feel (FEELINGS, HAHA) about V6 GM's. Now, the 5.3 V8 Silverados are great engines.

The gen 3 is not any bigger than the gen 2. It's the identical frame specs. The gen 3 is a couple of inches longer but only because the new bumpers have more crap on them.

I read somewhere (of course, I can't find it now, that the Colorado has 2"'s more of legroom & 2"'s wider. I could be wrong.

They are very similar. I think legroom comes down to how the seats are arranged in the cab itself. Not so much the actual size of the cab, because they are similar.

I'm trying to figure out how someone can say that the cab is exactly the same as the second gen unless you were at a show and measured it yourself?

It looks like the cab is the same size but the might be able to squeeze out some extra room with better packaging and hopefully the front seats are a little better and offer more room to put your feet underneath.

Right it looks like but we have no hard measurement specs, I'm sure it probably will be but to blatantly tell people it is the same without knowing for certain is bad business.

I cannot find the video now but I think it was one of the Fast Lane Truck video the female correspondent asks if the dimensions are the same and the product specialist says yes, but that the bumper hangs over an inch or two more. The composite bed is carry over too. That wouldn't be possible if the dimensions changed. Look at the doors, they are essentially the exact same doors, but with some different stamping touches on them.
Why would Toyota make the Tacoma even bigger? The last things the automakers want is an arms race based on size. Again, the dimensions are the same.

EDIT: I think Mike Sweers, chief engineer said the dimensions were the same during his live Q+A video.

I test drove the Colorado, and with the driver seat set to a comfortable position, I got into the rear seat. While I can not say there is more leg room, there is more knee room, so the back seat feels (tehehe) bigger. I am 6'2" tall. It was everything to do with the way the back of the front seats are sculpted.

I dont think its going to be that much bigger than the 2nd generation. The cab based on the pictures of the new 3rd generation looks the same as the 2nd generation. So i dont see how they could design it for more room.

Because they're not. The 3rd gen is bigger.
This was disputed and proved in almost every aspect before they even revealed the new truck, but alas you have naysayers who won't believe anything.

How about some references to back your opinion.
