Thats a good idea . I still have 2 feet of snow .....With this said , it would be great if I could get the sound stage of the tweeters a little higher and I doubt the tweets will fit in the sail panels without some serious modifications considering the size of these mercury Tweeters .
As I understand it , the pillar pods that are available from the aftermarket are only available for the drivers side unless you know about a company that supplies both right and left pillar pods ?

Here is what Toyota calls factory door speakers. They honestly weigh less than 1 pound .
Here is the back side showing that whopper of a magnet .
    .
A couple pics of the doors before sound deadening
    .
    Removing the plastic vapor barrier
    .
    .
The starting of the sound deadening

Got the front doors with the Mercury speakers installed . Took a while . Had to make templates that forced the sound stage upwards rather than firing straight .

Well then , I think " YOU " just came up with a nice idea . Build me up some nice looking right and left pillars that will accommodate the tweeters . I will install them and pop all kinds of pictures of my install and you can sell them as part of your Tacoma package hehehe . I think you walked into this one o_O.

Nope, but once i make them they will be specific for the K62 tweeter with the driver side A-pillar most likely housing either a boost gauge or a digital volt meter

The last picture might be a nice option for an EASy to do DIY setup though :)

    Nice write up!

The equipment definitely looks the part. If the gear sounds as well as it appears, you are going to have a real nice set up. It would be nice to hear it.

I wish I knew you could get the " WORLDS FIRST " under seat 10 inch " SQUARE " sub . Those subs look like they will perform very well . I may have gone that way if I knew rather than the 8 inch sub behind the seat . You need to promote that sub mind you as I am sure it will fit many TW owners needs . I havnt seen a 10 inch under seat sub available to the public in North America .
Considering its a Mercury product and judging by the reviews , all I can say is where do I sign up for the group buy ? My wife needs a sub in her 4x4 matrix and I think that 10 inch will fit perfect . Bring on that group buy

I really like the look . How can we get past the air bags ? I believe 2010 and up all have air bags in the pillars . With this said , there may be a safety concern adding tweeters to pillars . I know guys are adding pod gauges to their pillars but I would hate to see what happens when the air bags deploy .
There has got to be a work around for this ?

Next time I work on my clients setup I'll take a look what's behind IT.

As for the group buy on the subs,
Their not cheap, and their not light and the cheapest way is to have them shipped my seA. I don't mind this, but its hard to host a group buy when it's going to take the time
    To cross the ocea

I dont think members here are going to mind waiting for quality products like this . My Mercury speaker package only took 10 days to get here and I live in the bush up in Canada . I suggest promoting those square subs . Members are going to love them

I agree with Mr. Cruncher. I think those square units could be just the thing. For my AC I'm imagining mounting it on the rear wall between the jump seats. Away from feet and moisture.

I'd wait to do it right once, and be done. Would the on board amp power the sub exclusively? (sorry a bit ignorant on the fine points of this gear.)

Yes the internal amp would only be powering the sub. I have small 4 channels available with varying price ranges and power specs.

For the space you have there if you were to remove that centre console you can easily get a nice box in there for a single 10 inch and wouldn't be that hard to build, A basic function box is all you need.

I think for the AC's a super strong contender is exactly what The op is doing
H500, ether 8-10-12 inch sub depending on how much space they want to use up and their choice of mids. Easy, not messy and superb performance.

Kidsmoke, another option is to remove that rear centre console thingy,
Build a box or use a big round pvc pipe and cap one end off and mount the sub to the other.
You will need either a 8 inch or 10 inch or 12 inch pvc pipe to do this and fit it between the 2.

IF your skilled you can do an octagon shape box by kelfing the panel at the right spots and bringing it it to make an octagon. Again, sub faces up and should be enough space for the 8 or 10

Cool idea manethon. How deep should the tube be to provide the "right" cu. in. behind the cone?
