All you can eat oysters for $20 starting at noon followed by some light wheelin' (bone stock trucks will be fine). Family friendly atmosphere, no crackheads. I know that leaves out a solid 50% of TW. :luvya:

There will also be a softball tournament, golf tournament, raffle with $500 prize, and I think a 5K walk/run dealio too. Last year there was even a petting zoo for the youngin's. There isn't really anywhere to stay in town, so bring a tent and a fishing pole(lots of awesome camp spots I can guide you to) or motel camp in John Day half an hour to the North.

They pick the oysters up in Newport the night before and cover them with about 400 lbs of ice, they are still alive when they go on the grill. They also batter and deep fry them which is the way I prefer. Also lots of other food available (burgers, dogs, etc) for those so inclined. It's always a good time, and there is some neat country to see in the vicinity.

Love the pic you posted username. Does the basin flood often? I have never seen the water that high. Then again, I am usually out that way during hunting season, not springtime!

It is normal for ice dams to form along the Silvies river and flood the surrounding fields in spring. There are also some beaver dams that contribute to the flooding. So far, it hasn't been high enough to touch and buildings, but I do remember it getting close to the school when I was a kid. Last year (spring of 14) the city had to use a backhoe to break up the ice chunks building up against the lower bridge, and it worked. Also, the Morels are out in force around Seneca for all you mushroom hunters out there-
