I have been obsessively reading the 255-related threads because I can't wait to try this size when my current tires wear out. It seems like the consensus is 255's will work on stock suspension if you don't mess with the wheel width or offset. So if you use an OEM 7" or 7.5" wheel without spacers, 255's should tuck into the wheel well with little to no rubbing and allow full suspension articulation.

Speaking of tire rub, look how much worse it will be for Chevy Colorado owners:

I had my 255"s on my truck for about 24 hours before my lift was installed. I would NOT recomend running 255's on a stock truck.

Just saw these tires yesterday. I like the way they look a lot. Im thinking of getting some also. I currently am running 275 70 17 BFs AT great tire. But I like a wider tire. They make this in a 305 65 17. Anyone have this on their truck? Id like to see pic.

Yeah, lifting gets complicated. I too have been pouring over threads looking for some consensus on what is possible. It would seem that stock is fine, as well as "real lifts" under 3" and possibly higher. Once you starting factoring in spacers and shit it gets complicated but as for as lifting via springs with heavier duty shocks I think you are good in the short-mid travel range. As far as long travel goes I don't know, but if you go high enough to clear the bottom of your wheel wells then it's not really an issue...

Sorry to burst your bubble but you are homing in on a situation where you have to remove square feet of sheet metal.. not square inches, square F-ing feet. Sorry.

    I'm sure I responded but I don't see it....

No rubbing yet. I only installed them Monday, and flew out of town Tuesday. Bashed around a few drives ways and no rubbing anywhere. Full crank left and right. I'm sure they will rub though off road.

Currently I'm running icon 2.5s with cdc, icon upper arms with 3 degrees caster, wheelers superbumps with 1/4" spacers. Dakars out back, waiting for longer icons and then I'll remove bump stops and sway bar to check clearances better.

Why is that. I already have cut and also they are same height and only Inch and a half wider. I'm running fuel rims 4.5 back space too.

If you've already cut then you may be fine, wasn't sure what your situation was. I see you have a 2.5" lift, do you have aftermarket UCAs? I know that the new tires would only be slightly under an inch and a half wider and only half an inch taller, but at full lock and full flex this could be a no-go without taking another couple square inches off. Not sure, only way to know is to try it!

Where's the best place to buy them online? Do I still need the tire pressure monitoring system with these tires? Will some sort of recalibration be needed? I want to go with the 265/75R16 size...stock TRD Off Road suspension.

I couldn't wait for a reply. LOL. Ordered them through Discount Tire Direct without the TPMS rebuild.

There is no way 255/80/17 would fit stock and have full articulation! You will rub front and rear flaps and cab mount until you lift at least 2-3 in and even then maybe still flaps and cab mount! Even with spacers no rub is not guaranteed and can even be worse. Adding new UCA will help with the caster but it varies truck to truck!

What tire pressure is everyone running to get good tread contact?

Alright, yesterday was my first day trying out the new 255/85/16 tires. I didn't get a chance to do flexing, just some light offroad/gravel and small obstacle clearing. I'll update when I have a chance to do some flex tests as well.

Little to no rubbing, the tires push the mud flaps out of the wheel and there's minor rub on the inside of the wheel well along the plastic, also a little rub patch on the frame (seems to only be driver's side).

    Plastic rub:

    Driver's side frame rub:

    Passenger's side frame no-rub:

    UCA no-rub:

These tires would make Chuck Norris proud:smash:

Did you even see that block chop?! TAAAA-COMA-QWAN-DOOOOOOOooo son!
