Yes I have a lift but that's irrelevant to whether VSC can still engage in VSC OFF mode

The only times I've heard about VSC engaging outside of normal specs is from people with lifts.

All of the documentation says when it's off, it's OFF no matter the speed. I've never had VSC engage unexpectedly. When I turn it off, it's OFF. Heck, you have the total disconnect switch you added, right?

Here's the thing though , if it's totally off in VSC OFF mode , it can't come back on but it did , so that means it can come back on in VSC OFF mode , which means it's not totally off in VSC OFF mode

You can't have it both ways

    Speaking of documentation :

I just wanted to clarify something for you guys. Despite VSC being disabled via the VSC off switch, it is in fact true that the VSC system can still engage but only for speeds above 30MPH and ONLY if your truck is skidding sideways, indicating a loss of control (Yaw Rate Large). Both of these conditions must be true in order for the system to engage.

This all came about from a foot note in the brake technical document that was released when the 2009 trucks came to market. This foot note generated lots of discussion and debate. In an attempt too settle the discussion, I placed a phone call to Toyota. I've verified the foot note with a Toyota Drive Train Specialist who took my phone call back in 2009.

To put this another way, yeah you disabled VSC, but know that it's monitoring the truck at speeds above 30MPH and can and will intervene if you have lost control or it believes you're about to loose control of the truck.

Wheel sensor gone bad, shiner on one of the four wires, those are thin wires probably 22awg with thin insulation. They hang down onto some metal pieces from what I've seen. A little rubbing with that thin insulation and you could get a shiner. Intermittent problem.

I've only had my tacoma about 6 weeks or so. All this was in 2Hi. First, without any changes, I started from a standstill and punched it straight ahead. The VSC light came on and I could feel it kicking in. Cool. Then I clicked the VSC button once. VSC Off and Auto-LSD came on. I did the same thing, punched it straight ahead. A little more slipping but it still grabbed but more right, left, right, etc. than with the VSC on. The I put it in park and held the VSC button in. TRAC-Off displayed. I punched it straight ahead and it spun like my old Chevy 1500 used to.

Then I did donuts in the 3 different states. VSC on - surprisingly good traction. I could definitely tell when it was kicking in. Single press of VSC button - not bad traction but less smooth when the LSD kicked in. More skidding. Last press and hold the VSC button, TRAC-Off - skidded all over the place. Even when I stopped accelerating it wanted to continue to whip the back end around. Lots of fun. I did probably 7 donuts like this. Some from start off and some after spinning one way and starting the other direction. In this short test the VSC did not re-engage. Not taking sides, just giving another data point.

That says it all, good test with a new truck, DCLB. If one's truck is behaving differently, it's because it's been modded or there are some failures somewhere in the system.
