    yeah, no kidding. after i fixed the tie rod issue they just disintegrated
    yeah, i'm not too worried about dealing with wheelers...... just inconvenient timing. oh well.

    What do you think about this style? Because of my design, I think that I could easily drill a hole in a thick (around 1" thick) plate and weld it to the top of my bumper and mount this clamp on the swingarm itself and when it is closed the plunger pushes into the hole and locks it in. Could probably find a polyurethane bushing to go into the hole to reduce vibration too. I have just never seen anyone use one like this.

    that would probably work but i doubt you'd need 1" thick material. the issue i see with that is that it will hold the arm from swinging out but it doesn't have a clamping force which means your swing out (when closed) will probably rattle quite a bit.

    another question to ask yourself is "what direction is the 2500# rating for?"
    is it pushing? or lateral force?

    If you can make it work go for it. But the thing I don't like is it isn't holding anything down. Like no force is applied.

    And the lever doesn't lock.

    good point. i would still highly recommend a latch with a secondary lock on it.

    The way it's designed it needs a longer one. No way to get it closer really.

    wheels update......

    literally driven the truck to and from the tire shop and thats it so far because of the wheel issue.

    after going back and having my spare rim checked and getting a good look at all the wheels on the balancer ....... every single wheel has defects.....

    2 aren't horrible (but noticeable to the naked eye) the other three are bad enough to cause up to a 1/4" "hop"

    in a nutshell.......not happy.

    Which wheels are they?

    I noticed wheelers is now selling a new (for them) style. Its got 8-dimpled style holes instead of the 7-flat holed wheels they have been selling for years.

    Is this the ones you have?

    Pretty sure they are still using procomp wheels, but procomp may have changed things up. :notsure: The wheels in the link are the procomp 97s.

    I think you are correct about wheelers stuff in general. I kno they made a change to their leaf spring supplier. According to Bill Ford at Alcan, wheelers is no longer buying their springs from him.
