So I'm not ready yet, but starting to think about tires. Trying to decide between the Cooper STT

I am open to other suggestions as well, Size is going to be ether 285/75/16 or 305/70/16

I like the Duaratacs myself. It's a great all around tire. Good off road AND on... and from my experience this last winter. It's is phenomenal in the snow and ice. Also since it's still considered an AT tire, it's weight won't kill your MPGs

The Firestone Destination M/T was a good tire, but the Hercules Trail Digger M/T was way better.

The Wrangler Duratracs are a good choice. The Wrangler Authority is a bit better, but not available in the sizes you want.

    No experience with the Cooper.

Just my 2 cents. I have duratracs and I love them. Mud, snow, dirt, everything. They've been great. Had em on for 18k miles and they haven't worn barely at all. They're great!

I've got Cooper s/t's on my truck, they are similar to a duratrac. I expect to get 50k miles of useful tread life out of the maybe even more

not to concerned with mpg, but it is the only A/T that I had really considered.

thanks, I'll look in to them.

Had KM2s before, suck in the snow unless you sipe the shit out of them (just like the tires I have now), MTR is a possibility.

I run duratracs in c and they are a good all around tire, you can hear them above 40 mph but it's not bad at all - like you would here any other tire you mentioned

I just went through this decision, ended up with dynapro MTs in 295/75-16 due to all the good reviews I found. So far have been a nice tire, less road noise then the duratracs I had before. Only real wheeling trip I've been on since I got them a few weeks ago was cancelled due to snow but they handled it just as good as the duratracs had. I would suggests against duratracs due to weak sidewalls, I had one blow on me.

    OME 3" lift MK6 wheels 285 Fierce MTs & 4.88s!!
I have 3 Tacomas in the driveway. One has 35" Cooper STTs, one 285/75-16 Kelly TSRs, and the 3rd has 285/75-16 Fierce Attitudes. The Kellys are the quietest and best riding(only slightly). With that said, I'd buy Fierce Attitudes. Very aggressive looks and good road manners.

By the way, those Firestones would be my LAST choice...just because they have zero siping.

My duratracs are loud as hell. They're great in the snow, just loud. I'm contemplating the STT's as well.

Yes, I noticed that also. However I always get my tires siped regardless. So that isn't much of a bother to me. I will look in to the Kelly's thanks!

Yes they do! and don't have to large of tread blocks so would be good in the snow. Specially after getting them siped!

They are badly worn, unfortunately. The previous owner had them installed. The sound doesn't bother me by any means, but it is loud. I've heard similar remarks from other duratrac owners as well. Just my two cents!

image.jpg Go with either the STT or ST MAXX I have the maxx and love them, also siped them they worked great all winter.. The trail diggers are a Cooper made tire and would be loud on the road.... Plus if I remember they are very soft and wear quick.... I love the STT side wall lugs...
