I'm by no means a Peta advocate or anything, but IAMS does some pretty harsh animal testing with both food and other products. And, IAMS has been caught with animals living in terrible conditions.

I fed our dogs a raw meat and produce diet for about 6 months. They loved it. Chop up some veggies, add some egg, raw meat, maybe some fruit or fish and some yogurt. They loved it. It just became way too time consuming to prepare them a meal.

If your dog has dry skin get them a food with some sort of fish or fish oil in it.

Gypsy, my lab mix is still a puppy. I feed him Purina Puppy Chow. My older dog, Harley, she is a little Chihuahua and I give her Purina EN dry, with a couple spoons of the EN wet mixed in.

I was talking to a vet and he said blue buffalo in his opinion is overhyped along with the non grain diet. He said he has seen dogs who have eaten alpo all their lives to live a healthy life up to 15 years old or so, while others on the more expensive foods to be sickly etc. He said it's more about genetics than anything.

I feed my little girl 4Health from Tractor Supply. She eats less quantity, but is healthier.

Purina Puppy Chow first 12 months, then ProPac 26/18.

Dogs love it, vary the amount according to activity level.

We tried the grain free duck...my dog had the worst case of the shits on it. Had to go like 5 times a day and it was never solid. Threw away most of the bag and went back to zignatures

The past 3 days my pup has had some grilled venison added to her dinner kibble
    She definitely likes it.

But then, she's a Lab and will eat a sock if I let her. :goingcrazy:

I've used to buy castor and pollux organix... it's $50 for 25lb bag if I remember from Amazon. I've used all sorts of quality brand dog food...but none of it was really ever really good for the dogs. I cook for my dog once a week a big vat. Chicken, rice, yams, potatoes, blueberries, carrots, and beets. The beets and carrots are from germany and they are specially made so that the dogs can process it. Dogs normally don't process carrots and beets...just go in and out. Then we add missing link to his meal. He eats twice a day. He's never been more healthy on fresh cooked food than the processed dry dog kibble. I know walmart sells cooked food as well.

It's about an hour worth of work a week, but to me it's worth it...no weird unknown junk added and mostly a lot of dry dog food is made from one company and re brands them.
