Hey guys. I applied some of this stuff as I have used it for years and years and never had an issue. Well, i applied some to an area on my blue ribbon paint on my new truck and now you can see these really bad swirl type reflections when the sun hits it, especially at high noon. Anyway to fix this?

ScratchX is full of filler. Id imagine whatever you rubbed it with was dirty or had contaminants.

Only way to fix is use a wax/glaze with a lot of filler to hide it or actually get it polished properly.

Yes use a sponge style applicator pad for polishing or waxing.Use the micro fiber towels for removing polish or wax.

Scratch-X is fine, I've used it a ton of times before. It's good for light scratches in the clear coat, but anything much more than that you'll likely need a more abrasive cut.

Did you apply with an applicator by hand? I also think the scratches are from whatever you used to apply it or what you used to wipe afterwards. Either that or the swirls are deeper than what the Scratch-X can get to.

In any case, I'd get a buffer, pad and some Meguiars swirl remover (forgot the number, but Google probably knows). Wash and clay bar the area, swirl remover, polish and wax. I usually do that process to my entire vehicle once a year.

youll never be able to work swirls/scratches out by hand. anything that advertises as such is marketing lies.

ScratchX is nothing but a major filler glaze. Looks good when your done, give it 3 weeks. Everything will be back once the fillers wear off.

I've used Scratch-X on very fine scratches (usually only visible on DARK colors...Blue Ribbon would be one) and didn't have issues with the scratches coming back. Maybe because I did a polish and wax over it?

Sounds like the OP is going to need at least the swirl remover. Once you go to a coarse compound like that, you should really work your way back up through the finer ones for the best results. And like LTDSC said, I wouldn't apply any of these abrasives by hand.
