I would rather miss the playoffs and try to build a cup team then lose in the first round over and over again. You also must be delusional if you dont think Detroit is entering their own long rebuild as well. Most wings fans do. You will see I guess

haha ya he will have to get use to it. But its been reported that Buffalo offered him the most money, so it wasnt ALL about money. I think its also more about getting coaches on the pay scale properly. I can only imagine what Quenneville is thinking right now because hes just as good a coach and up for a contract soon I think?

For two years I've heard chump leafs fans say, "oh Detroit sucks, they won't make the playoffs". But they do and Toronto fans stay dilusional, wishing, praying..Lol the longest playoff streak in sports vs. The biggest budget in hockey?? Hmm I think I'd take the winning record, its been a fun 24 years with 4 cups in the last 20. Care to wager who finishes higher in the east next season?

WTF???? Seriously???? Fuck off with the 'Canada's team' crap. The only 'Team' Canada has......is Team Canada!! Not one Canadian based team could ever claim to be our Nation's team!!

 

There are more Toronto fans then there are Albertans. Don't get butt hurt over TO having the largest market and Babcock just pointing that out.

Jeez, there's a lot of hate going on in here from other fans over a coaching change lol.

 

If Babcock is willing to stick around through a rebuild, which he says he is, then this will be looked at as a great move 5 years from now. TO is a team at the very beginning of yet another rebuild. Signing a coach like Babcock is the first step to turning the circus that has been the Leaf's into something legit.

The Leaf's aren't 20 of the other teams in the NHL right now. They aren't looking at how to get better in 1-2 years like those teams or praying 2-3 young guys in there system pan out to push them into the top 10 like Detroit. Toronto is looking at a situation where it's at least 3 years of drafting well, trading well, and signing well before they will have a legit shot at doing anything in the playoffs. If the management team can do that, and it sounds like Babcock is buying into them, then this signing is the best way to maximize the new roster the leafs are going to have in 3 years.

Several GM's wouldn't even talk to TO last year because of all the leaks about trades that were discussed. Shanahan has literally fired 3/4 of the Leaf's staff since then and hired good reputable people in there place. I like the direction he's going. If you don't see the Leafs are trying to bring some legitimacy and stability to what has been a shamble in the largest hockey market in the world then you are blind. GO LEAFS GO
