A taco and a tundra are totally different.. Mileage in a v8 4x4 tundra isnt much worse than a 3.4 4x4 taco but as a truck the tundra wins hands down.
I was pulling a trailer easily with 4400lbs of stone in it yesterday with my tundra.
We heat our house with wood pellets and i once attempted to pull the same trailer with a ton of pellets in it with my 3rz powered taco and it really wasnt pretty..
As an off road vehicle the taco beats it hands down.
Once i bought the tundra my taco basically sat unless i wanted to go wheel so I sold it last month... Really dont miss it much at all.

It starts correctly now, thanks to the best dealer tech ever.
I'm convinced that the Tundra has good points for sure, from all of you Tundra owners chiming in. Seems like it just depends on your needs. I really, really want to get either a 2nd Taco or a 4 Runner to keep Taco Senior company. Honestly did not realize how much we loved that truck til we were suddenly faced with the possibility of losing it!! Now we know, and figure we should have a 2nd version of it so we are always covered! : ) If I could have ANYTHING I wanted, I'd get a 2nd Taco, a 4 Runner, AND a giant Tundra. How sweet would that be?????

Honestly, if you don't need to tow something big or want a safe environment to haul kiddies, you don't need a Tundra.

Yep, not doing either of those, so we are good to go on the 4Runner or extra Taco plan then!

Every one should have a Full Size Truck so you can haul stuff for every one else.

Just like a 50 ton press 95% of the use is others peoples stuff.

What's everybody doing for Memorial Day? Having some fun with an extra day off?

OK, Keakar and Bama gave me songs - what about the rest of ya? Gotta make my TW compilation album!!! Hurry, we leave tomorrow morn, so today is my packing/burning tunes day :) Can't wait!!! This is gonna be so much fun..........

Still in disbelief at the outcome - didn't think we'd ever get our happy ending, and closure to this whole big long nasty ordeal. This is just too freaking cool. And I am reminded all over again and refilled with SO MUCH JOY every time I start 'er up and it's just normal. YAY!!!!!!!! AND I get to be reminded of this awesomeness every single morning when I wake up, it's kind of like waking up to every day being your birthday or something. Not kidding. You have that moment of mental fog as you wake up, then you remember whatever big thing is going on in your life. And BOOM, SWEETNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! All smiles from that point on.......

We are finally doing normal stuff again - cooking healthy dinners again (no more junk food/take out being justified because we are stressed about the truck), watching TV/movies at night instead of agonizing/arguing over what to do about the truck, spending weekends doing fun stuff instead of being glued to the FSM and web articles, now that I have my wheels back Dolly gets her daily trip to the park again and our house actually stays stocked with food/drinks again :hungry: Life is good again TW, that problem really did take over in our house and kinda destroyed everything in it's path. And now it's gone :D

    Us before: :( :(:boom::annoyed::argue::angrygirl::goingcrazy::frusty::help::lalala::rant::rain::pout::pray::crapstorm:

    Us now: :rockband: :burnrubber::headbang: :headbang:

Only problem is this :duel:about who gets to :burnrubber:

Wait a minute, I resemble that remark...My full sized truck is the 68 Dodge Short Bed that has the SAME capacity as the taco...and my press is only 20 ton, while a 50 would be nice:)

well buy my old truck then, it gets 21/25 mpg with the brand new 4 hole injectors I installed and I did everything you could possibly do maint wise before I traded it in and they replaced the back bumper and repainted it so its good to go another 15 years. if you look closely at the pictures, they even painted the sides of the dash red because they didn't tape off the mirror holes lol. http://www.carsmartms.net/1999_Toyota_Tacoma_Diberville_MS_255151262.veh

Nah, we want another one just like this one, with 4wd V6 automatic. Then if we have problems with either vehicle, we have donor parts around to help us diagnose problems. Big, very valuable lesson I learned on TW/from this nasty experience. :D Plus then we never have to :smack:about who gets to drive what :D

Your old truck definitely looks/sounds nice though, looks like you took good care of it Keakar!! Nice work

So, what are our NEXT project?

We don't need to leave the cabin this weekend, A new barrel type smoker is showing up tomorrow, so we have 11lbs of pork ribs and 17lbs of pork shoulder to test our techniques with...

There is 40' of 2" square tubing 0.120 wall, mild carbon and 12' of 4x4x1/4 angle, a new to me Hobart 300 amp stick welder with 60% duty cycle, with new leads, clamp and rod holder. My shop is expanding, I have designed custom trusses for a second level, now it is time to build the horses to hold the trusses for fabrication.

There is a 100 foot waterfall in walking distance...

The 68 Dodge Utiline needs a speedo cable, the part came in today.

And there is a chicken brining for the grill...

This time tomorrow I'll be grilling for my wife along with a couple of my good friends, Justerini and Brooks. Haven't decided what to grill. Need to make up my mind so I know what to have for drinks.

Made a bit of progress on C.R. This is about where it will stay for the next couple of days. Kinda beat working on this thing for the last 6 mornings before heading to bed. Not too bad for 6 hours of work. When I was a bit younger, I could have a trailer look like this in 3.5 hours. sigh.20150522_071612_2c3c0a649446378e1fa80348023f816e87846dfc.jpg
Quickly tossed on the fender brackets. 20150522_073241_868abccc3e275a88b1373739cc260c05a07747d4.jpg
Started fabbing up my light boxes. You WILL not brake out these tail lights!

This is before f=grinding them smooth. This trailer is going to be mine, so I'm not too picky on how nice my welds are.20150522_074235_adb7d314a991eea269641298297198ab50380f6a.jpg
After a couple of coats of paint, these will look just fine. After all, this is a utility trailer. I'm gonna beat the shit out of it!

Light boxes welded in place.20150522_074548_fbb1e0b885371b87d4d039fb36e5490143484788.jpg 20150522_074555_a224fe08ccddc87f056a5177d1f9d0c957256de8.jpg

This is about it for the welding. I may add some small stuff next week. Thinking about building a boat winch perch in the front. You never know when you need to load a dead lawnmower. Winching it up by hand is much easier than pushing it up the ramps.

The fenders are only held in by the pressure of the 2 brackets, I need to drill holes and install bolts to make permanent. I do this after paint.

Please hit me with any criticism, I learn from every trailer I build.

If any one noticed or not, this trailer was built with almost all parts being second hand. I do repairs or alterations on other trailers and save useful parts for just this sort of thing. Will update next week if i get a chance to work on it or not.

I was going to comment on your less then perfect joining technique hoping it was just how the pictures looked and knowing we all have bad days after working all night.

I tend to be more critical on my own projects most times.

Made a few dollars over the years in my misguided youth fixing horse trailers and light plugs.

How hard is it to remember to unplug the trailer lights??

Those Cinnamon Rolls look so good Most store bought never come close to home made.
