Also better driveability and better low end torque normally mean higher mpg's. But your better off saving the money nodding the truck and buying a chevette or geo metro.

It moves your torque curve down lower, much like a bigger cam moves it higher. Most people don't drive their trucks at 3900 where the max torque is, but you can move the peak torque down to about 3 k rpm where it is useable.

It might be a decrease in total power, but it improves average power.

I had a 1990 corvette I traded in on my tacoma... It made 250 horse and had 80k on it.. so maybe a little tired and made less horsepower(who knows). Well all these brand new v6 camaros and mustangs thought since it only made 250 horse they should smoke it in a race... Well they made more peak power at 6000rpm.. but they didnt make more average(or lower end since youre in that power longer) power. My corvette made 250 horse at 4000rpm and around 350lbs of torque at 2000. It walked off and left them on top of keeping up with the SS camaros that night at the drag strip running a 13.81(100mph) to the ss camaro's 13.72(106mph). The v6s? HA like 14.80s to 15.3s all night at 86

As for the spacer, you would want to space the intake away making the runners longer. I see people buy throttle bodies and other crap for throttle bodies and think they made a HUGE difference when in reality.. They didnt do a damn thing.
