Just because you can drive on the shore doesn't mean you should

Most of the reservoirs are pretty low right now in the Sierras and with a bunch of out-of-towners here for the holiday weekend I'm sure this won't be the only guy getting stuck.



He was on street tires which did him zero favors and I don't think he was in 4wd when he got stuck (not that it would have mattered). The taco popped him right out of his ruts after letting him borrow my shovel to dig out his tires.

 

I love driving on beaches... But I hate that sludge, and have never gotten stuck.

How did you secure the strap to the chains? It doesn't look like a shackle.

 

Strap should be hooked from frame to frame usually,but on a flat slippery surface (hand he's not burrowed in) where there's not much resistance this wouldn't bother me.

 

The chain is looped through the eyelet on the strap. Chain is secured to stuck vehicle's class 3 receiver. The other end of the tow strap was connected to my truck with a shackled receiver similar to this
