Just ordered the Pioneer AVH-X1700S yesterday and it has a usb port in the back but comes with a chord, it also has a mic for hands free phone use. I was wondering where you guys mounted both of these if you have them. Was thinking about drilling out a false switch panel by my fog lights for the mic and maybe running the usb chord into the console if it's long enough, or run it into the glove box.

I have a Pioneer AVIC 5100, w/ the same setup (USB on the back with a cord included), I have yet to mount the USB. I'm thinking of mounting it in the vicinity of the cig. lighter.

The mic is installed at the top of the A pillar molding. I took the factory mount off, and wrapped a tie wrap around it, and the long part is what is hidden behind the molding. This helps keep it in place.

Wherever you end up putting the mic, remember it will need to be somewhat close to source of the audio (your voice) for clarity, and volume.

PAC-USBCBL from Amazon.com installed into blank filler plug under A/C controls

Microphone supplied with JVC H/U installed in blank filler plug to left of steering wheel. I drilled a hole in the filler plug and used RTV to hold the mic in place.

For the mic I was thinking either the false plug next to my fog light switch or the top of the A pillar. I have an 08 so I don't have the blank switches under my a/c controls. I'll figure something out though for the chord. Thanks for the tips!
