    So,...
I have a '09 base access cab with 4 cal auto that I thought was going to be for light hauling.

Now we are thinking of a pop up camper, maybe a FWC Eagle?

Is that realistic? Anyone with experience?

Too much weight. The 800 lbs they cite is without water, propane, and people on board. You will be pushing your max payload and you will be sitting on the bump stops. Better suspension will help but you will still be over working the truck with a weekends worth of gear IMHO.

So I'd say doable, but also not something I would do.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I think it could be done, but you definitely need to beef up your suspension for sure. I don't think the 4 cylinder will have a problem handling the load, wont move very fast but she'll get the job done. I used to tow 3200# of trailer and motorcycles with my old 2.7 truck without any problems.
