I know this will be once again flogging a horse that has been long since dead... But... I'm wanting to put a 3" suspension lift on my 2015 DCSB 4x4 and most of the threads I have gone through and read.. The OP was never really specific about what they were trying to achieve, so here goes. I just bought my taco about 3 weeks ago and as with my last truck.. It will spend most of its time on road.. With the exception of the 4 1/2 month span that the alabama hunting season takes up. So I'm more concerned with a smooth ride on road, and a moderately comfortable ride off road.. Bearing in mind there will be NO high speed off road driving, 20mph at the most. I plan on running either 285/65r18's or 285/55r20s. I know coilovers are the way to go and new shock all the way around. I hope this helps better describe what I'm looking for. So what ya'll got in mind for what I'm looking for?

Just keep in mind, with a 3" lift, your CV boots will rub, and tear constantly

I went with a Bielstein 5100 3" setup from headstrong. Includes shocks, coils, and add a leaf. I also wanted comfort on road, and Im quite happy with my lift. I paid $655.00 and installed it myself. well worth it.

Why do you say not to go above 17"?... Other than added weight. Tires will still be 32". Just curious.

    Lots of chrome
The bigger the rims the less tire side wall. Less side wall = stiffer ride and more opportunity for rim damage when offroading. IMO big ass rims and low profile tires are for sports cars or lowered trucks.

But hey if your truck doesn't see the dirt and you like the look of 20s go for it. Its your truck right

For the sake of a smoother ride I'll forsake the 20's then so I'll be going with 17's then the Dick Cepek GM7's I like only come in 17's and 20's. Great input.. Keep it coming!

What suspension combination will give me the smooth ride on road I'm looking for with moderate off road comfort though?.. Keeping in mind all off road usage will be at slow speeds (less than 15mph).

OME 887 lift, 16" XD addicts, 285 duratracs, leather seats, badass JL/Focal stereo
I just had the bilstein/OME bundle kit installed and I'm loving it. Ride is slightly firmer than stock but feels great. Only thing I would recommend is getting UCAs, I've noticed that my alignment feels a little off (even though Toyota said it aligned just fine). It's not terrible by any means but enough to make me want to upgrade soon. Anyways the kit came with all four shocks, an AAL and 887 coils. It was like $650 shipped from Headstrong Off-road. I haven't measured but it looks like 3". I got duratracs 285/75/16 and definitely had to trim. I had rubbing in reverse and near full lock on the front bumper and just barely on the other end of the fenders...so be prepared for that with 285s.
