I have a 2" lift with the 16" Ivan Stewart TRD wheels w/1mm offset. Will a 285/75/16 fit without any cutting/trimming in the BF KO2's. I've been through the forums, but with so many different setups, it's hard to get a straight answer. Add to that that different manufactures have different specs for the same "size" tire, so many variables.
    they are 32.8" diameter tires

I'm no expert by I think you need wheels with 4.5" of back spacing? I'm curious what other people have to say.

I would be absolutely shocked if you didn't have to do anything. Even with true 3" lifts, people are still trimming and chopping to fit 285s. Those tires might run a little closer to 32" but not sure. Let us know how it goes.

From what I have read on here, you are going to need to trim, probably quite a bit with only 2 inches of lift. Like TucTaco said, even at a full 3 inches most people still have to trim. Also, looks like you still have the front mud flaps on...those will likely need to come off as well.

With 3" of lift and a 4.5" backspacing(-12mm) wheel I had to trim with my 285 KO2s. I added 2" wheel spacers to start trimming for a LT and I had to cut the cab mount back pretty far… You will probably need to change wheels or get spacers to fit them and like others have said with only 2" lift you should expect to trim a bit.

Well that's disappointing to hear, all that trimming and a cab mount chop even with a full 3" lift and 4.5" of backspacing. I may never step up to 285 (32.8"), just stick to my 265/70/r17. I really wish a major tire manufacturer would make a taller 10.5", something like a 265/75/r17.

You have a better shot of it fitting with your current wheels offset (more isn't always best in this instance). You will likely have to do some trimming though with the amount of lift that you have. You'll love the KO2's btw

I have a full 3" with 1.25" spacers and stock trd wheels. I had to trim inner fender plastic. I haven't done the cab mount chop, I don't normally rub there. If I did more serious offroad stuff I'd prob have to

It is always different for everyone... I have 17" wheels 4.5 backspacing with spidertrax wheelspacers (to clear UCA) and i got the 285/70/17 BFG KO2 Tires on. Absolutely zero trimming needed for normal driving.... Ill hear a rub every now and then on turning during dips. But none backing into parking spaces, etc on normal roads.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, could an aftermarket Bushwacker fender be an alternative to trimming the inner fender?

no such thing but I don't believe they will, I trimmed the actual metal of the fender as well. I only had to trim this much because of the big spacers with aftermarket wheels(keep in mind I was trimming to get ready for a long travel kit), if I had stock wheels with 1.25" spacers(or even aftermarket wheels w/ 4.5bs and -12mm offset) I don't think there would be much trimming...

You know there is an alternative tire, the 255/80/R17 which is a 33 inch tire if that's what your looking for. Now it's not as wide as you might like but no trimming would be required. The downfall is they aren't carried or stocked at your normal tire shop.

I'm running 285s on a pos 2.75" spacer no idea the back spacing on the wheel, but I have 0 rubbing even at full flex. I do have an after market bumper and I used to rub slightly on the bumper side but have never had issues with firewall side.

Nope. I'm running bushwackers. They don't increase the amount of space inside the wheelwell. If anything, they're worse than factory flares. I had to trim the insides of my bushwackers just like I had to trim the inside wheelwell plastic of the original fender flares.

Keep in mind, most of the required trimming is inside the wheelwell, and no one who's not a tacoma owner or enthusiast will ever be able to see or recognize what you've done. Mudflaps most likely have to go, though.

If you really really really don't want to take a box knife and heat gun to anything, stick with 265/75R16 on factory wheels.

yes, I have done the mods
I'm running a 3" lift, OME 886 coils and Dakar packs. Have your exact wheel & tire, Ivan Stewarts and BFG KO2s, 285/75/16. I pulled the front mudflap things off about a block from the tire shop.

Daily driving yields no rubbing. Just got back from The Maze / Canyonlands, and I heard rubbing precisely one time in the hairiest part of Teapot Rock. Your 2" lift may yield different results, but I was pleased that I haven't had to cut anything for normal operation.

OK, I know the splash guards gotta go or they will be ripped off with any kind of off-roading anyway. This is the answer I was looking for. The Toyota dealer, which is also the ARB/Icon dealer said they will work without trimming with my setup. Any "extreme" terrain I obviously am not set for(no sliders or armor). I don't understand all this "back-spacing" and spacer crap? Just buy the right wheel/tire combo in the first place, which I was told my setup would be ok with the 285/75/16 when I started this project, but I keep reading the crap in these forums and start second guessing.

Proper backspacing is required so the larger tires dont rub on the UCA. Wish we could just trim there too! It's more than likely to happen with the stock UCA, but I think I've read of it happening to people with aftermarket ones too. I wish I knew from experience, but like Noah said above, I think you need a wheel with 4.5" of backspacing or less to clear it. If you have a larger backspace than that, you could use wheel spacers to counteract it. It sticks the wheels out further (and gives you a more aggressive stance), but they're not generally well regarded for their reliability.

OP, if you want to run those wheels without spacers and no rubbing/ trimming stay with 265s (31.5" tall). If you want a taller tire with minimal rubbing/ trimming and no spacer go with 255s (33"). If you want that wide look from the 285s (32.5 - 32.8), you're gonna need spacers and gonna rub bad unless you do some trimming. Them's the breaks.
