That is such a stupid ticket. I better not ever get ticketed for that haha. I didn't even know that was a law. Did they pull you over just for that or was it added on to a speeding ticket or something?

Legally you don't really (used lightly) have to have them if your bumper covers enough, but from how the law is worded it all depends on what the cop thinks....So basically if you don't have them, and the cop is in one of those "special" moods, you're getting a ticket.

"No person shall operate any motor vehicle having three or more wheels, any trailer, or semitrailer," states California Vehicle Code Section 27600, "unless equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread."

Wow that sucks. Technically isn't like 90% of what we do to our trucks illegal though? Like armored bumpers don't have a crash test rating, retrofit headlights are illegal, aftermarket taillights, I could probably list all my mods haha.

Yeah apparently. I've had a few great experiences with them and only had problems with cops in Ventura. My girlfriend was driving my truck while we going to stagecoach and didn't know that my speedo is off because of the tires. Then he listed everything wrong with the truck. "Unsafe bumper, nice radar detector... Etc... Lame. Only wrote her up for speeding though. I guess I can't complain too much haha. Radar detectors aren't even illegal!

In search of stock 1st gen front struts, bushings on mine are shot and im trying to pin down some vibes.
Going to be buying some aftermarket coilovers in the near future so dont want to buy new ones...

Anyways let me know if anyone has a set they'd want to give away, sell, trade.

Some bilstein 5100 would work to, level out the truck for the time being too :D lol

    Thanks

Just wanted to stop by here and say hi to everyone since I'll be around the Lompoc area for a little while. I figured I'll sub to this thread so I can hopefully catch y'all if you do any trail runs or meet ups while I'm here. Here's a pic of my truck as she sits until I pick up the Demello 3 hoop in a few weeks. [IMG]

In town for a little mandatory training. Can't complain though, the ocean is kind of far away from Colorado!

Welcome to the 805! That's a nice looking truck ya got there. The 805 has some really nice local members so, I'm sure someone will take you up on going for a drive etc. I'm looking forward to attending another local meet up in the near future(I'm just waiting to get my driveline dialed in first). I have a childhood friend in a suburb of Denver and visit him once in a great while. Last I heard, he sold his house in Littleton and moved to the Lakewood area. Where abouts in CO are you from?

Thanks Theo! I'm around the Colorado Springs area. It's great for weekend wheeling trips since there are great trails within a short drive. Cali looks promising also, just not sure where to look yet.

And thanks Spencer! They are one of my favorite wheels, kind of keeps that nearly stock look

If I was closer to Lompoc and didn't have papers due I would definitely be down to go wheeling somewhere. Unfortunately I can't. Maybe we should all do a meetup this weekend? Possible?? Haha

Nice truck btw. Really love those wheels. I was in Denver and Littleton in December this year and I was so jealous at how many cool places there are in the area. Definitely a place I would consider living in the future. Not to mention California is just extremely expensive.

Headed up to Mammoth this weekend, want to stop in the desert around the Dove Springs area, does anyone recommend a specific place to go to?

Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm not sure I can make anything happen this weekend but maybe the next few.Finals should be finishing up soon huh? I don't mind a little driving either if the trails are worth it.
