Entune update

Hey Folks,

Just had my 10k service done on my 2014 TRDSport with Premium radio (Head Unit Model:57094). I had them check for an entune update (just to stay with most current version) and they updated me from Audio:0101A5 to 0101C1. Not sure what the changes were as I don't see any visible or operational changes, but just an FYI for those who were curious about the most current version number.

Maybe the update is just to keep you from wanting to put your fist through that POS. I don't have the premium one but I'm not liking that thing AT ALL. $36,000 truck with a $2 radio!

 

+1. The damn thing is though, that EVERYTHING else is fantastic. Back up camera, voice commands, bluetooth with phone, steering wheel controls... but that damn hiss in the sound signal (which is crap anyway). And the damn thing won't just play music. Stops randomly, sometimes it take 10 minutes to start playing, etc. I'd appreciate the basics done well over all the other frills.

 

I can't get the bitch to understand a word I say on the voice commands. Also had my system updated because "address", "web" and other icons were intermittent while driving. Now the system makes sure they are turned off while driving (as programmed).

I'm beginning to understand why so many owners here are carrying around handguns.

 

I had this crazy notion of installing a completely separate secondary audio system. All I need is mp3 playback via USB stick. Run that to my amp and speakers, and install a single crappy speaker for the nav and phone calls.

 

i have intermittent issues with my Entune headunit but not nearly as bad as others are describing. My main complaint is that the navi is not up to date with latest locations and POIs. After riding in my friend's 2015 Outback, I realized the head units are running similar software. I wonder if the 2016 has the updated headunit (faster, smooth screen, multitouch) that the Subies have, and if it'll fit in the 2014 opening.

 

Had mine done at 10k and solved all my problems resetting when getting text freezing up etc.

 

I have an oil change coming up in a few weeks, going to have them install the latest.

 

I can't get mine to sync up with my messages on my Droid MAXX.

 

I just wish it would let me use the album art I have in my directories when playing through USB rather than that stupid Gracenote crap. I also wish the Window Phone 8.1 Update 1 would get pushed to my Lumia. Then I would have access to all of the apps that everyone else has with Android and Apple apps. The music and phone and text stuff functions fine, but not the Gas Prices, Pandora, etc. But that's MS and T-Mobile's fault. Also, Toyota should allow consumer updates via download like every other manufacturer that uses this OS does. We shouldn't have to go to the dealership!

 

If you go in for an update, reference TSB 0160-14.

I emailed Toyota with a question and part of their reply was:
"We issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 0160-14 to address some Entune concerns for certain head units, including a condition where Bluetooth® disconnects the iPhone 4 when connected to USB."


When I had my service done and asked about an entune update, they were completely unaware of the TSB. The service advisor pulled it up on her computer to see what it was about. The technician even came out afterwards to talk to me about the radio. Got the impression he had never applied the update to anyone prior.

 

Does anyone have a copy of TSB 0160-14? I went in for this update but can't find any reference to it on the internet.

 

Wiped out all my texts except one from two years ago. Won't download any new texts. Phone calls work fine though. ????

 

Oh ...2014 TRD Sport with Etune Premium

 

Just got back from the dealer yesterday and asked them to update my entune 57094 JBL as mine freezes as well and resets on its own. On the audio portion the version was 010185 and they told me nothing needed updating. I showed them the bulletin for the update 0101B1 or 0101C1 and he said thats not what they have on their 2015 updated TSB. strange huh? so in essence nothing was done and no update history logged into it.
Advisor just said to keep obseving and if it keeps happening he'll have to have it replaced or checked by a tech. Lame. Doensn't seem consistent
